I have tested my Lego Sort & Store in a science experiment for school. I found out that it sorts very differently from time to time, even when you use exactly the same bricks every time. What happens is that some brick sizes fall in two layers in the sorter, so you will have to look in more than one tray, for the brick you are searching for.
If you are looking for a specific brick, then the sorter might not be helpful, but if you want your bricks roughly sorted, it will be very useful.
I like the Lego Sort & Store a lot. It is awesome for decoration and to store my Lego in.

I purchased this from a local big box store and it only took a few shakes for the clips to come undone and the whole head full of legos to spill all over the floor. This happened more than once. The clips are just not strong enough to be able to hold the head together and shake it by the handle. I also didn't think it did a very good job sorting the various sized bricks.

This isn't a perfect sorter, but we love it anyway. My 7-year-old son enjoys using it, as he has tons of Legos and it helps us to find pieces, especially the smaller ones. The carry handle is a great feature, and the sorter is made of very durable plastic.

As other reviewers have said, this does not do a great job sorting the LEGOs. It still leaves a lot of work to be done after it has does it's sorting. The item below does a much better job:

Lego Toy Storage and Sorter Box | Award Winning BOX4BLOX Lego Organizer Makes it Easy to Sort and Store Lego | Great Gift Idea For Lego Loving Kids | Made in America

However, even the product above does not do a perfect job. I usually find I still just sort them all by hand because it is quicker and then I do not have to listen to the horribly loud sound of LEGO shaking around in plastic.

It's about the coolest lego storage you could find. The sorting layers are an interesting touch; even if they don't perfectly sort at least they split up the amount of legos such that you don't have to spill out an entire box to find what you're looking for. The price is a little high but my son loves it.

I first looked at this item at Target and thought it would make a great gift for my son as he can use it for storage and separating the mess of Legos he has everywhere in his room. In storing Legos it does a great job, just wish it was bigger. In separating Legos, well, it fails at this job. The only pieces it is able to separate are the 2 by 2 and the 2 by 3. So you would have to sort the small pieces and place them in the container (Defeating the purpose). Larger or oddly shaped pieces can not be separated in the Lego Head. Overall I think is a great looking Lego memorabilia that provides limited storage that fails at sorting lager pieces. It is a great accent to any Lego themed room.

As far as design, it fits right in with the toy room and the Lego "culture." Like other reviewers have stated, it does not do a perfect job of sorting but with the complexity of Legos and odds shapes, nothing will sort perfectly. Use this to get a start on sorting, but do not expect perfection. Buy this product because your young kids will think it is fun...if you are buying it as the Parent who has to sort the Lego's then you might be expecting more than this product can do.

My husband decided he wanted to get back into Legos...suddenly...I bought him this and said he can't have anymore Legos than will fit inside. I should've phrased that better. He's up to nearly 1000 lego pieces and he hasn't even filled it 3/4 yet. The really cool feature is the three layered sorting system. So you don't have to dig around for a small piece inside a bunch of bigger pieces. I'd recommend it to anyone with kids...or adults...who have a small to medium size collection and aren't planning on much more than that.
