LEGO released its first set of Collectable Minifigure blind bags in 2010, and in just four short years we have seen 11 numbered series and two special series -- one based on The LEGO Movie and this most recent series based on The Simpsons characters -- the perfect companions to go with this year's LEGO release of The Simpsons House!

Let's be clear about what you are getting: 1 small bag containing a randomly inserted LEGO Simpsons character for you to build. There are 16 possible characters, with some being more rare (Mr. Burns), some being more common (The core Simpsons family members such as Homer or Bart)

While I did not purchase from amazon (more on that later), I do own the entire series... twice over! I can wholeheartedly recommend them in every way. But maybe you are wondering... 16 characters? Just WHICH character could I get if I buy one of these?

Here are the possible characters, the accessories they come with, and their rarity in parenthesis (based on how many of the character are likely to be included inside each box of 60 bags). Thanks to WhiteFang at Eurobricks for the breakdown, but the actual rarity could vary slightly per case.

01. Homer with donut and tv remote (5)
02. Bart with skateboard (5)
03. Marge with purse and magazine (5)
04. Lisa with saxophone (4)
05. Maggie with bear (4)
06. Grandpa Simpson with newspaper (3)
07. Ned Flanders with cup and toolbox (4)
08. Krusty the Clown with cream pie (4)
09. Milhouse Van Houten with comic book (3)
10. Ralph Wiggum with valentine (3)
11. Apu Nahasapeemapetilon with Squishee cup (3)
12. Nelson Muntz with bat (3)

Big Lego and Simpsons fan. Got back into collecting Legos a few years back. Love the licensed ones. What's great about Lego is always the nice sturdy quality of their minifigs. The detail on these are fantastic. That especially goes to the art decal/printing on the head, torso, legs, and accessories. While the torso and legs are the same Lego mold (Maggie's body is a single piece), what stands out on these are the head pieces as the molding are different. This was a fantastic idea by Lego. The heads are all distinct in size and great detail just like the cartoon. They're all so great and cool looking that collecting all 16 is a must. How can you not? The MSRP is $3.99 which is a $1 more than usual but it's obviously cause of the licensing. Don't pay more than that. I have no idea why Amazon is currently selling these for $5.99. Toys R Us marks up all of their Lego sets but even they were selling them for $3.99 over this past weekend.

Collector notes: It's easier to find the whole set as a normal box has 3 - 5 per character (except Target stores since they have a large stand instead of a normal retail box case). Dot/Bump codes on the bags are there but seem to be region specific. Finding the correct character isn't that bad cause of the feeling of the accessories and head shapes. I'm a Lego minifigure blind pack noobie. I've never bought one before til I got these. With that said, I did feel all the packs correctly and got all 16 of out the 16 I opened.

Going to give a guide on how I got my 16. Hold the top of the pack and shake it til all of the pieces are on the bottom (like before opening a sugar packet). This made it easier to feel the specific piece(s) w/o it moving around. All figures come with an accessory or 2 so that's what I feel for.

I was both excited and saddened to hear that the Simpsons were finally going to be coming to the Lego universe.
Excited because now I can have TV's longest running animated family as lego minifigs
Saddened because the Only way to get the figures is from these Minifig singles or the 200 dollar Simpsons house.

Since there are no smaller playsets this is the cheapest option of collecting simpsons minifigs.
There are 16 characters in blindbags:

Homer Simpson with a donut and a TV remote control.
Bart Simpson with a skateboard
Marge Simpson with a Purse and and a "Donut Fancy" Magazine
Lisa Simpson with her saxophone
Maggie Simpson with her bear, Bobo
Grampa with a Newspaper about himself
Ned Flanders with a white "I ♥ South Paws" mug and a toolbox
Krusty the Clown with a pie tray with yellow cream.
Milhouse with a "Biclops" Comic
Ralph Wiggum with a card that says "I choo choo choose you"
Apu with a squishee
Nelson Muntz with a baseball bat
Itchy with a caveman club
Scratchy with a lumberjack axe
Chief Wiggum with a billy club and a megaphone
Mr. Burns with the Three Eyed Fish, Blinky, in a bowl and a radioactive bar

I was lucky enough to purchase 10 of these bags and only get two duplicates (homer and marge)

Worth the $3.99 dollar price tag. (Which is up $1 from the previous minifig series)

So basically these are lego minifigures, but they are simpsons characters. You get one figure with one or two accessories per bag. I really like how these look. They are very true to the characters on the TV show. One cool thing is that the heads are larger than regular lego minifigures which really gives them that cartoonish look and makes them stand apart. The torsos on the figures are regular size. The legs of the adults are regular minifigure size, but the kids legs (Bart Lisa, Millhouse, etc.) are shorter 1/2 size legs. Again this is pretty neat as it makes them a more realistic size in relation to the adults. There is also a lot of attention to detail (for example Bart is painted on the back of both his torso and legs to look like there is a slingshot in his pocket, Ned's mug says I love south paws, and scratchy has a cool tail piece). I found these at a local retail store for $3.99 each which is a little higher than other lego minifigures (due to the licensing I imagine). These are great if you a fan of the Simpsons or just love minifigures.
