I haven't really owned that many Lego sets in my day but I have enjoyed them when I get my hands on them. It takes me back to younger days and this set just always makes me hum The Munsters theme when I see it. My daughter has it in her head now which is great. The set just reminds me of those old Monster movies or the haunted house on the hill and I have a black and white look in my head when I see them. I really like these Monster Fighters sets and thus far are probably my favorite.

The biggest issue I have is the price for what you get. When you finally have it all put together you may find yourself wondering where your one hundred eighty dollars went to. I think the price per piece is eight or nine cent and its gonna be up to the individual to figure if its worth it but I will leave that to you. It is small for the price as well because the pics makes it look like you might be able to vacation there with your friends and family inside but its simply not so. Personally I think the set is more of a one hundred and forty dollar or so price tag but two thousand pieces is quite a bit to have fun with nonetheless. Seems like it should of cost a little more than the castle but not by much. The box is also massive which is weird with what it builds to and the little bags in it. Lastly for this paragraph as a thirty year old man I had lots of fun building this mansion.

There are lots of good things to be had from this set though. I love the way it opens like a dollhouse which makes its insides easy to get to. The issue with that is how bland the inside looks though its not terrible it just seems like there should be more there.

I can't believe that Lego has never made a haunted house before, but I'm sure glad they finally have! My entire Lego collection is basically one large haunted town, so the haunted house is a perfect addition. While it is part of the Monster Fighters theme, the Haunted House could easily fit in with a few other Lego themes or displays as well. Because it is essentially a rundown Victorian mansion and is about the same size as the modular buildings, it could be used in town displays as either a rundown house in the town or be customized a bit to look well kept. Still, a creepy old manor is what this house is best presented as, so here's a look at the Lego Haunted House:

The Facts:

# of pieces: 2064, 3 manuals, 1 sheet of stickers.

Minifigures included: Lord Vampyre, the Butler, Zombie Chef, Vampyre's Bride, 2 Ghosts.

Positives:

*First, I'll point out that this set will take you quite some time to build. I was working on it with a friend and it probably took us around 3 1/2- 4 hours to build. If you're looking for a set that takes some timeto construct, this might be it.

* Once this set is fully put together, it is just amazing to look at! As a friend commented, "I didn't even realize it was a Lego set at first." The build is very solid and the exterior is extremely detailed. There's a very realistic look to this mansion that more closely resembles a model than a Lego set. This is a well designed set that looks brilliant on display. The house is hinged and swings open to reveal both halves of the inside, but looks like one, solid structure when closed.

*Inside the mansion, there are lots of fun play features and accessories galore.

Yes, I know, it's expensive. Doesn't matter. If you don't own this, you should.

Here's why. This is one of the best LEGO kits produced, ever. It may not be UCS Millenium Falcon good, but it's definitely in the top five. It is one of the few that when it was announced my non-LEGO friends all mentioned how much they wanted it. However, due to its expense, few have actually purchased it. I bought it the day it came out. Built it a few days later. Displayed it all through Halloween and have since bought a few more for investment.

Yes, you read that right. Investment. Understand, this is one of the most popular LEGO kits ever sold -- among LEGO enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike. There would be a lot of demand after it goes out of production if that were the only thing it had going for it. But in the immortal words of Billy Mays: "BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!" This is just a fantastic build. The construction is well thought out with lots of detail throughout. There's junk in the attic, there's a folding staircase, a record player, a detailed little kitchen, broken steps, boarded up windows, and just a ton of ambiance. Plus, it opens in half so that you can really show it off -- or play with it, if that's your preference.

Did I mention how big this kit is? At 2064 pieces, it's one of the largest LEGO kits, there's only a handful that are bigger. It's impressive when built and has some impressive weight to it. A lot of the pieces are in the rare Sand Green color as well. It works well as a Halloween decoration.
