Overall the set is good. It comes with numbered bags which make it easy to assemble. The emperor is a great addition since the only other way to get him is with the $400 Death Star set. Here are the pros and cons:
wings fold easily
doesn't come apart too easily
cockpit opens up nicely
injured Anakin minifig has good details
back gun swivels easily
great detail on cockpit viewscreen
good seating for clone pilot
front weapons and engines are realistic
landing gear is smooth so it can skid across the ground easily
very sleek design
when I fly it around, the guys stay in their seats
it should seat more minifigs, only seats two figs and there is not much space for them
the top comes off too easily so I modified it to make it more secure
did not include enough weapons, so I added some to the wings myself
Anakin's helmet mechanism does not work well...there's not enough room to play (the helmet mechanism takes up most of the space) so I removed it and put extra seats for stormtroopers
overall it's pretty small for a $60 set
should have included more maroon/red bricks to make it look like the one from the movie...it only included 6 3x1 flats so I added about 12 more to make it look maroon/red
Overall I like this set and my mom got it for 12 dollars less at Costco for my birthday so it was worth it.
This shuttle is the best! It has secret compartments, 2 light saber holders, and the top comes off for easy movement inside the vehicle, and the cockpit is an immediate ejection for the pilot when they crash. If you think $45.00 is a lot of money it's worth it, big-time....WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS REVIEW WHILE YOU COULD BE BUYING THIS NEW LEGO!?
There are a lot of technics style parts right from the get go and a lot of bricks and details in the opening stages of building. As the ship slowly took form and I continued to plug away at it a brick at a time the more and more I began to appreciate this ship and now I would rate it as one of my favorite sets.
The ship design was awesome and I really enjoyed how everthing just seemed to come together in the end. The upright wing gets attached through pins so it gets to maintain a individualized piece look and still be part of the final product.
For the average 400 - 600 piece set it usually takes me from 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete. This set took me almost 4.
However the device that is created to simulate the conversion of Anakin to Vader is sometimes kind of touchy and doesn't always work like is should, but when it does it is so cool seeing the helmet be mechanically placed on Anakin's head and then for him to be raised to the upright position.
If given the chance to purchase this item again I would not hesitate. So now you must ask yourself, 'Am I a Star Wars geek?' If you can answer yes to this question then definately this set is a must for you, just keep in mind that you will most likely have to dedicate more time then you normally would to build a set this size.
Wings fold well
Comes with Emperor Palpatine's and Anakin Skywalker's light sabers.
There are seats for emperor Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker.
Cockpit opens nicley
Has a tail gun
Cockpit can also be used as an escape pod.(detach it from the main part of the shuttle and it looks like an escape pod)
Top comes off it easily
Wings can fall off.
Anakin Skywalker transformation into Darth Vader feature doesn't work well.(Darth Vader's helmet flys off if you try to attach it to him with the sliding thing that is susposed to attach it to him)
it is a little expensive.
It doesn't come with any clones except the clone piolite.

True that the Star Wars lego sets are pricey, but kids do love them. Be prepared that a kid over 10 will probably build this in a day and not want to take it apart.Published 4 months ago by NJ Mom
