This is a good kit, has a few nice minifigures, but the price is a little high. The kit comes with 380 pieces, to average out to about $0.14-0.15 a part (at MSRP). Bad news, the Rancor is 19 pieces alone. So you are really getting a bare bone lego kit for a increased cost due to it being both "Lego" and "Star Wars". But if your a fan, then your a fan and you will pay. I do like how the new Jabbas palace stacks with this set, unfortunately the tower in Jabbas palace will need to be detached to stack, and gate must be closed when they are stacked. Minus these few gripes this is a great kit. The trap door in the palace does lead right to the Rancor pit which is nice. There are some nice minifigures to go along with the action of the set. The Rancor is huge! About twice the size of Jabba. I was watching Star Wars Episode 6 while put this together and my girlfriend quite frankly thinks I'm a bit nuts, but having the movie in the background only increases the fun factor of any Star Wars Lego set.

Wish Lego would cut back the prices a bit but alas everything has been going up in cost. Check out the customer photos for my pictures.

I was very excited to get this set, especially with its ability to join with Jabba's Palace but when I finished this one, I was left a little unimpressed. The mini figures and the set are both pretty cool, but for $60 I just feel that there could have been more to the set. I could see $40 or $45 if only for the Rancor, but there is not enough pieces to really warrant the expense. To sum it up, this is a great addition to the bigger picture, but is a little lack luster on its own.

A fairly simple set to be honest. My 6 year old loves the Rancor figure (can't call that a minifig can you!), and the set did inspire some good imaginative play, but for the price I think it could be bigger, and allow you to move the Rancor around in the room. But we can't help ourselves, we are such Lego addicts we love them all ;)

I purchased this toy for my grandson after receiving his wish list. He was so thrilled with it and has added it to his other lego toys.
To hear him say thank you grandpa and with it a big hug was worth it.
very entertaining and it keeps him busy.

I'm really impressed with this set. You can join it with jabba's palace and create one big scene with a working trap door (see my jabba's palace review), or if you don't have the palace, then you can just leave it how it is and it looks great. There is a lot of playability in this set. The gamorrean guard is the same one in jabba's palace. But he's still a good addition. he doesn't come with a weapon. Malakili is a new figure. I really like his sad face with a tear. he comes with a scythe sort of thing. I love him! Luke is a new version. He comes with his famous bone from the movie. He also has a double-sided head. The rancor is probably my favorite minifig (alongside the ewoks and Malakili). He comes with a chain attached to his arm cuff. He also has a hinged jaw allowing him to eat a minifig. He is fairly big. his claws and hands can move. He is the main reason why people want to get this set. HE IS GREAT!!! The skeleton is just a standard lego skeleton, but he's really cool. He completes the scene. The pit has a gate that can stay in an open position using a clever mechanism. The rancor can fit through if you pull it up all the way. It has a door that leads to the rancor keeper's supply closet. There is an awesome lego bucket, a key, and a pitchfork. The pit also features a hidden compartment so Luke can hide in there. There is also a hidden pit with some bones and a spare key. Torches also hang from the walls. The detail is great. Try combining this with jabba's palace, it looks great. This set is simple but complicated. It's hard to explain. Overall this is a great set and I would recommend it to any star wars fan.

This is a cool set. In general, I hate the high price point of Legos, but my children love them, so I'll support their habit. This is a good set. Many pieces, good directions, sturdy finished product that leads to hours of play and imagination. No doubt, this set is worth every penny. No regrets here.

We took the Rancor with us on our family vacation. Oh, and our children, too.

This set combines with Jabba's palace to create an awesome two-tier Gamorrean Guard buffett for your Rancor, children, and lovers of Star Wars. The Rancor is the stand-out piece in the set. His claws have two independent fingers so that his hands open and close and can hold a minifigure easily. His jaw opens and closes and, most importantly, his mouth fits a whole minifigure. Our rancor dines regularly on Legos of all kinds.

Though it was sort of a bummer to have to buy two sets, together with set 9516, Jabba's Palace, this set really takes my back to sitting on our carpet watching the VHS of Return of the Jedi over and over and over.

This is a really cool Lego set, especially if you have Jabba's Palace so you can combine them. I liked some of the little details in this, like the hidden compartment for the skeleton, and the big portcullis. The minifigures are great, EXCEPT, the Rancor just doesn't stand on its own without a plate, and, this set doesn't come with one. The inside "floor" of the pit is just completely open. I think they could have included a small grey plate to make a real lego bottom, and it absolutely needs it, because that Rancor is really unbalanced and just topples over all the time. Other than that one thing, its great.
