The Droid Tri-Fighter is a nicely designed ship which looks great at all angles and comes with 3 Rocket-Battle Droids. Plus, it's a great value for your money piece wise (268 parts for $25.00 retail and current $20.00 Amazon and Walmart).

PRO's...

- Overall design of the vehicle. Looks great at any angle (front/side/back/top/bottom very well designed and sleek look).
- Open/close bubble cockpit.
- Laser cannons mounted top, left, right and centered.
- Rear engine well designed (3 thrusters).
- 2 long Rocket, flick-fire missiles underneath.
- 3 Rocket-Battle Droids with jetpacks (binocular pieces)...1 Rocket-Droid Commander with yellow crown and yellow stripe on front of body and 2 regular Rocket Battle Droids (all come with standard issue rifles).
- Build is nice which gives ideas for bending sections and engine designs.

CON's...

- Flawed cockpit. When opening the bubble halves, it pulls off the brick plate with hinge constantly. Not good for kids playability if they're taking out a battle droid pilot often.
- Even when securing back that plate, the clutch is off so when you close the bubble, it leaves a slight space/opening.
- No real seated area for pilot in bubble cockpit. Just sits in there loose. They should've thought this out more.
- Centered bubble should have the 'brain' of the ship instead of putting in a Rocket Battle Droid.
- No Buzz-Droids.

Overall it's a model I like because of the design. Playbility for older kids is fine, since you can secure the cockpit back no problem but for younger kids I suggest leaving the cockpit unmaned and closed so kid's won't have frustration when playing.

I liked building the tri-fighter, but the fun was over a bit too soon, and ended up being a little tedious. The issue is that the majority of the pieces are in the three exactly-identical "arcs" that make up the majority of the build. That said, if you can get it for a good price the end result does stay together much better than I thought it would, considering that it's resting on joints. Final say: not my favorite, but better than expected.

The building technique deserve praise. A bit repetitive, but that's expected. The "cockpit" is pretty lame, and the hinge pieces become loose when you try to open it. An awesome set, nonetheless. I will buy more for my collection.

My 14 yr old son got this for his birthday & loves it. He & his dad have both enjoyed it & have used it both indoors & outdoors. It controls & handles very well on carpet, tile, linoleum, grass & asphalt. The missiles fire a fair bit of distance but not with enough force to cause any damaged if it does strike a person. It may not be a good toy for the younger fan (under the age of 8 if not supervised) due to them being to hard or rough on it. I wouldnt recommend ramp jumping it as I dont know how durable it would be & how long it would last but all in all a definite must have.

This is a good set if you are a first time lego builder. A little pricey but not too bad. I had never seen a rocket droid commander before and it is a good edition to the set. There is so much that you can do with the pieces. Look online for other things to do with them. There is no seat in the bubble in the middle but it is ok. I just use it as a droid on its own. The rocket droids are a good add on. They are a little fragile and their backpacks are a little loose. Also the rings are easy to bend and I wish they had more flick fire rockets. Over all a very good set. I liked it.

So, my son woke up early to get this put together. It took him about an hour of carefully following the instructions to make the set, but once he was finished -- WOW! It comes with 3 rocket battle droids (if you take their guns out of their hands, they can all fit inside the cockpit). One thing I notice is that there is no seat inside the cockpit, so the pilot moves around a lot.

As a mom, I love that he had to read the directions -- usually he just looks at the picture and starts to work. Most LEGOs are predictable once you've built hundreds of sets. I like it when he has to work.

Very cool set -- it holds up well to being "flown" and played with, even by a younger brother.

My six-year old son, Alex, has this to say about this set: "I think this set is great. It is very cool-I like the droids that come with it. The only problem is that the triple wings are tedious to make since there are three of them. I had to make one at a time. I've always wanted the circular windshield that comes with the set. It has more pieces than you would think. It has 268 pieces and I have the ship that battles it, the ARC-170 Starfighter."

This was a very cool addition to the growing collection my son has. The Star Wars lego collection is very well done.
