The build begins with putting together four minifigs -- Jack Sparrow (whose head has a great 'terrified' expression and is reversible for a unique tribal face), Will Turner, and two different cannibals. Then, you make a fire with a roasting-spit that you can rotate; you can attach one of the minifigs to it if you want, and it will stay stable for display. Next, you'll build a throne decorated with skulls and plants. Then comes the most interesting bit of this build -- a bone cage (which for the most part uses the little robot arm pieces that you'll see in some futuristic Lego sets like Exo-Force, but it still looks great). The cage is intricate and delicate, so younger children may need some adult help. You can trap a minifig inside the cage, and the cage dangles from a chain (with a crank that lets it be raised and lowered, and it's done solidly enough that the cage will stay dangling at whatever height you raise it to). The chain is attached to the final part of the build, which is a building that looks like it was constructed out of a tree, and has a little bit of play space, along with a place where the cannibals have confiscated the pirates's possessions.
All in all, it makes for a nice display piece, and it's a fun if not particularly lengthy build. Recommended for anyone buying multiple Pirates of the Caribbean sets, or who wants the bone cage.
This item was purchased as a gift. The quality of this product was great and the directions were easy enough for my 8 year old nephew to understand and follow. The price online was fairly decent as well compared to other brands which were cheaper, yet more flimsy. I highly recommend this product.
