LISTEN UP EA
on May 4, 2017
I have given 5 Stars to EVERY Lego Game I've ever bought.Let me tell you why Lego The Hobbit only gets 3.
I would like to start off by saying that I realize there is only one book. I understand that a lot of the plot laid out in The Hobbit movies was taken from The Silmarillion, and other J.R. Tolkien stories. With that being said, this game was based on the movies. This is what leads me to my 2 Star review.
I am a BIG LOTR fan, so of course I had seen all these movies, and of course I had pre-ordered this game when it came out (originally for Xbox 360). The game was released in April 2014, just shy of 8 months before the 3rd movie (Battle of Five Armies) was released. It was rumored that there were only supposed to be 2 Hobbit movies, and that somehow screwed the game development all up. I don't know. I don't really care. Because of this, only the first 2 movies were incorporated into this game.
After the third movie was released, I started looking into when the last edition of The Hobbit would be available for purchase. I was starting to get mad at myself for paying FULL price, for 2/3 of a game. But I love Lego games, so I was able to brush it off most of the time.
Then came the news that EA had no plans to release an expansion. No additional disc, no DLC.
WOW. EA abandoned this game, for more important things.
Because of this, I'm giving this game as many stars, as I got movies.
It's a shame. This game has some really cool scenes. My favorite is riding the barrels out of Mirkwood and mollywhomping orcs with Bomber. I ended up repurchasing this game when I got an Xbox One, and every time I arrive in Laketown, I curse EA under my breath.
