Nice unit, smartly designed and easy to use. I'm primarily making beef jerky, and trying different recipes is a lot of fun. I got unit for Christmas and have made 5 batches of jerky. Loved doing it and the jerky was I have to admit is very good.

That last batch of jerky was where my problem started, about an hour before the jerky was finished the dehydrator started completely losing power. Fan would shut off, the LEDs went off, but a rap on the side would get it to run for a while. I had to do this a couple of times got that batch of jerky finished.

I called Kitchen Resources (the number on the enclosed warranty information) and told them what was happening. They told me they would send me a new base (it was all I needed the rest is trays, lid, etc., no moving parts). Well a few days later a whole new units shows up, I swapped out the base units, (I really fought the urge to take additional trays). Retaped the box, used the supplied prepaid UPS shipping label and sent it back.

Kitchen Resources could not have made this any easier. With a 12 year warranty that is truely honored. Kitchen Resources should be proud of themselves and their products!

This is a nice looking piece of equipment. The timer and temperature control are very convenient. I have not had a problem with clean up as I have not used anything that drips to the bottom.

The major complaint I have is that the very bottom tray is to close to a big central area at the bottom of the unit that only a small portion of the bottom tray has air flow - so the drying is very uneven on that tray AND every tray you add on top is cooler by a couple degrees.

I put an external thermometer (remote sensor) into each tray, and down down down went the temperature with each tray stacked up. I only used at most 4 trays, and even with 4, the bottom two will dry much much faster than the top 2. Requires therefore some careful watching.

If you dried something that dripped, it might gunk up the mechanism for dispersing the hot air at the bottom, but it is pretty well covered and might not be a problem.

On the whole, it does the job OK but not superbly.

Because of the good controls, and the fact that the temperatures are the same from run to run with the same settings, and the timer controls, I am happy. It does have the above drawbacks.

I have been dehydrating for many years and have used 3 types of machines, this one being my favorite of all. It does a great job in every way. Sadly, my old one recently died after about 10 years of heavy use. It was the L'Equip without the timer. I never had a single problem with it in all of those years.
I upgraded to this model. To show how much I love this machine, I bought a second one, like my old model, to use as a back-up for the times that I have an abundance of drying to do.
One of the dehydrators that I also have is the Styx. I do not like this type at all. You have to constantly rearrange the food as the items in the back next to the fan dry much faster. While you are rearranging, the food falls off of the trays when you try to pull them out. This is not a problem with the L'Quip. The trays have a nice lip around them instead of the flat trays that come with the other models of dehydrators.

This model is ultra quiet and I love the timer. Yes, sometimes you do have to rearrange the trays, but I have not used a dehydrator that you don't have to rearrange at times. That is just part of the process, at least you don't have to worry about your food falling all over the floor while you are doing it.

I highly recommend this machine above all of the rest.

I bought this dehydrator because of the filter, on/off switch and the warranty.

I used the L'Quip to dry tomatoes, blueberries and some other things and was very pleased. It's quite and the size/shape fits great in my smallish kitchen. I did need to rotate the trays some but not as often as I did with the old round style dehydrator I'd used before. I decided to get more trays and went with the 1.5" trays, thinking I'd get more use from them. I bought 14 more to make a total of 20. My husband when I told him I bought all the deeper size, said he felt it would be too tall and the heat wouldn't be able to dry the top tray. Turns out, he was correct.

I called L'Quip and customer service said to expect a few degrees difference between top and bottom trays as I'd already expected but it should only mean we'd need to rotate trays more frequently. Every two hours was the recommendation and I quickly pointed out how impractical THAT would be as I work and appreciate a FULL nights sleep! I loaded them with sliced pears and set the dehydrator @ 115* as I wanted to preserve nutrients in the fruit. Next morning, I put a candy thermometer in the bottom tray and it was at the correct temp. Put it in the top tray and it was at 85*....NOT good. The top trays were dripping wet too. I wish I'd thought to take a photo of that. So basically all the pears sat at room temp all night. I took the top trays off to bring the height down to 20" as it would be if all the trays were 1" deep. Candy thermometer in the top tray and half an hour later it was still at 85* in the top tray. Frustrated, I rotated the trays and turned the temp all the way to 156*. The top tray only came up to 95*.
