As a devotee of learning and continuous improvement in the Agile/Lean software development world, I was excited to find this book that adapts Mike Rother's ideas about Toyota Kata to practical use by software teams, leaders, and organizations. Easy to read, easy to use, you'll want to keep it handy on your desk. It's a great addition to my collection of books on retrospectives, team chartering, liftoffs, and other continuous learning and improvement approaches. I know I'll dive into it often.

Systematic, thoughtful, and packed with detail. A great book for coaches, practitioners, and leaders who want to realize the benefits of continuous improvement in their Agile practice. Be prepared to dive in deep, come up for air, then return back to previous sections to go a bit deeper. It's dense, but in a good way.

The scope of this book is truly impressive! Jesper Boeg thoroughly explains the Improvement Kata and Coaching Kata for an Agile audience. There are many excellent figures to accompany his detailed practical description of how to combine the Toyota Kata with Agile and agile retrospectives.

This book discusses taking the tools developed by those observing Toyota, called Kata, and applying them to Agile practices. The result is an affirmation of continuous improvement framed within the bounds of Agile. More specifically, the book discusses how one single rigid set of agile practices cannot work for all teams in all contexts. Instead, we should be iterating towards developing a process that works on a team level, as well as iterating to generate value.

I loved this book because it begins to provide a proof to what I've been thinking for a long time. That the much despised jack-of-all-trades is very useful in modern IT. That and also the confirmation that my eye-rolls are justified. Usually caused by people saying "we've got to do agile, this is how we're doing it" and my subsequent disappointment when "scrum masters" become people that you email to change the time of the standup in the group calendar.

I don't think this is the end though. This is just another evolution of Agile. Great book.
