I ordered the Lexivon butane torch a received the package a day earlier than estimated....good start.
I myself mistakenly ordered at the same time, a can of typical butane fuel... basically meant for lighters.
I was happy with the overall design and quality of the unit and all the tips provided. It was easy to set up and functioned very well from the first day. I soldered bronze sheet metal and copper wire chain,I also anealed copper wire for some projects.
After some time, the torch wouldn't stay lit when using solering tips. I contacted Lexivon thru thier web site customer service link. Their response was imidiate. My problem was quickly diagnosed within one email. Turned out to be user error...quality torches require filtered butane. The customer service rep was sending me messages throughout the weekend to ensure my problem was solved, that the torch was functioning properly, and on every occation, suggested if need be, he would send out a new kit entirely.
I found the torch an excellent addition to my workbench, and combined with the outstanding customer service, it's now one of my favorite hand tools
I would not hesitate to buy any tool Lexivon has to offer.
It wouldn't ignite into a full blown torch. If I used a regular lighter to help, it too would only burn like the flame of a paper match.
What a total waste of money. I'm so upset that my return window has closed.
As others have stated, you can't stand it up. It's top heavy and just falls over so you can't put it down real quick to adjust your work to continue.
Also, you do need both hands to start it.
And, it will turn off when put to any angle other 90°
I'm going another route. 45 bucks down the drain.
Don't buy this if you plan on actually using it.
Use high quality butane per manufacturers specifications. My issue did not fall here read on.
How to engage heat gun feature 100% of the time. Gently push trigger in until you hear the gas hissing and then slowly push the trigger until you hear the igniter click. This gives the tiny chamber enough time to fill with enough gas to ignite every single time. The same can be said for the torch itself. Don't mash the button treat it with a gentle touch and it will light every time. So the review turns out to be user error.
The thumb safety on mine was sticking and I was fiddling with it after the merchant rep reached out to me. I was trying to one hand ignite the torch and a small snap happened and now the thumb switch is operating flawlessly. My guess is a bit of flashing on the plastic? Nevertheless it seems to be working in both right and left hands smoothly and without issues. I will alter my review to 5 stars. Terrific little torch.
Overall Difficult to use, quality issues (received used item) and doubt the life of product.

I bought this to replace my ageing Portasol Pro, to use as a high power portable soldering iron to carry out repairs to vehicle wiring, which was a big mistake.
Don’t get me wrong, as a blowtorch it’s brilliant, with enough power to carry out light plumbing work.
But as a soldering iron, although effective, is a pain in the a**e to use.
Firstly, due to the design of the carrying case, the torch must be pretty much dismantled and the tips stowed correctly before you can pack it away, and of course you have to wait til it cools down before you can do so.
This of course means that it has to be assembled before use, which is fine if you’re going to be using it for a while on a long job, but for a run and gun repair, when you factor in assembly (involving the use of tiny spanners to attach your soldering tip to the catalyst) cooling period, and disassembly (again using the fiddly spanners) it turns into an involved operation.
Also, when soldering vehicle wiring in barely accessible places, for effective heat transfer, you need to be able to rotate the body of the iron to present the flat side of the tip to the work, this is difficult to do when the main body is at 90 degrees to the tip.
Again, I must stress that as a blowtorch, it’s as good or better than everything else out there. A lot of my disaffection stems from my own choice, but as a soldering iron, with the caveat that if used as a bench soldering iron permanently assembled for the task is pretty good. For the most part, feels like an afterthought.
I will be keeping this, because, well, who doesn’t want a decent micro blowtorch. But I will be investing in the bigger brother Portasol 125watt, and not, unfortunately the soldering iron brother to this product, which also won’t allow you to stow the iron hot, which Portasol does. Click Off, pop the (heatproof) thermoplastic cap on, pop it into the case, close the lid, done, seconds flat.
