I bought this DVD player to go with a new LG Cinema Screen 47LM7600 47-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 240Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV and Six Pairs of 3D Glasses. I wanted something that would work together seamlessly with, that would produce great picture quality, and would be user friendly. A month into using this DVD player, I think I got all three.

I like that the DVD player itself and remote is easy to operate. It's easy to find the settings I want and to control the DVD player as necessary.

But of course, what I really like is how it works with my TV for wonderful picture quality. I expected my Blu-Ray DVDs to look great but am also impressed by how well it renders old, standard DVDs. Of course they don't compete with the HD DVDs I own but they look much better than they did on my old standard resolution TV and much better than my non HD television channels. This means that if I can get a good deal on a regular DVD vs. Blu-Ray I sometimes opt for that because the picture quality meets my needs. I also haven't had any issues with the firmware freezing that other people have mentioned.

The only thing I cannot decide is whether some of the SmartTV capabilities are redundant with my TV, but even without using them, this seems worth the money so it is not a big deal.

The bottom line is I don't think you have to be a TV or technology junky to appreciate or get the most out of this DVD player. Even as someone who is inclined to use most of the default settings and doesn't necessarily notice minute differences in picture quality, I've been impressed and satisfied with this.

Love Love Love this blu ray player. Got it for a pretty good deal and there's a few things I really like...
      1) Plays 3D movies great on my 3D Coby TV.
      2) Has a front-USB port that plays pretty much any file format imaginable. I haven't had it refuse a video file yet. I've used .mp4 .mkv .avi and even recognizes subtitles in .srt format.
      3) comes with a disk to instal "Nero MediaHome" software for Mac or PC. I use it on my Mac to stream content from my computer over my home's wifi and plays 480-1080p movies fine. Although, this may vary on your internet speed. Was a little laggy when streaming 3D 1080p movies, however. The wi-fi streaming mode also plays all kinds of video file types.
      4) Has RCA and digital optical audio outputs that I've both used and work great, but am currently using the RCA output. Also has a single yellow video output, but I haven't used it. Oh, and also has a LAN ethernet input, but haven't used that either. It would probably work as a more reliable streaming option, as opposed to wi-fi streaming.

I ordered this "used" from "Amazon Warehouse Deals" and the unit appears to be brand new. I would have rather just built a Home Theater PC, but using this unit to access files stored on my existing PC and streaming via home network ended up costing a lot less money. In order to access these shared files on your PC, you'll need to install some sort of DLNA home server software. LG includes a disc with Nero MediaHome Essentials, but I couldn't get it to install properly. After trying several other media server software, Twonky seems to work the best, though it will cost an extra $10-$20 for a license key. With this set up, I've been able stream .MPEG and .MKV files (including subtitles) with no problems so far.

Your mileage with wifi may vary. I first noticed a problem while streaming something in HD on Netflix while connected to my wireless-N network. The image on the screen would get stuck on a single frame about every 5 minutes. I would have to pause the video, let it catch up, then resume play every time this happened. I then tried watching a video in SD, and Netflix didn't get stuck once. I wasn't sure if it was a wifi issue or not, so I moved the blu-ray player from the living room to the bedroom where the router is located. With the player positioned only a few feet away from the router, the connection is fast enough to stream HD videos without getting stuck. I also noticed some lag streaming an uncompressed 30GB .MKV file wirelessly. However, the lag seemed to disappear when using a wired connection. In conclusion, for best performance, use a wired connection. Looks like I'll be running a cable through my crawlspace next weekend.
