Red Corners? Only had monitor for 1+ year
I got this monitor last year in May 2018. Now, I'm noticing the corners of this monitor are starting to change color to red or some kind of discolorization to it. It's been a 1+ year and now this monitor is starting to break. I'm wondering if over time the corners will start getting bigger.

I waited months and months to pull the trigger and till they were almost unobtainable for these to go on sale ($419; they debuted at over $650) and grabbed two, and I wish I had gone for three at that price after actually finally seeing and using it up close.

This is the enterprise/business model and has the three year warranty, as opposed the the plain 27UD68P or -W models which have only one year.

Though it is 50nits less bright than the consumer/pro version, It is far brighter than I or most people need, and I had to turn brightness down to about 70% as I use it in mostly darkened or low-light environment, but if you have a very brightly lit or sunny office, this will more than do the job.

Excellent color and clarity, excellent pixel density, response and refresh, multiple inputs and a perfect addition to any Mac or PC. On the Mac, you may want a third party utility such as SwitchResX to access additional resolutions and refresh rates beyond those in the System Preferences Displays panel. It supports 90º pivot with Mountain Lion or later.

It took me a bit of fussing in the onscreen controls to fine tune the color profiles for accuracy for print work, but most people will be thrilled with the default settings out of the box for general use.

The antiglare coating is more than acceptable; virtually no perceptible reflection except in very bright lighting.

You can drive up to four of these displays at full 4K/60hz (4th display limited to 30hz via HDMI) resolution on any Mac Pro 2008 - 2012 using an nVidia GTX 960 or better; or you can use a lesser card to drive fewer 4K displays; Mac Pro 2013 will drive six; any Mac or iMac with Thunderbolt or MiniDisplayPort can drive this (adapter might be required) at full 4K/60hz

The included stand on this model, unlike the consumer/pro version is fully adjustable with 90º pivot and pretty okay, but I have mine in a six-screen array using the included VESA 100 mount point.

A top reason I picked this over the highly rated Dell 4K UltraSharp HD models, and over the less expensive 27UD58-B, is the exceptionally narrow bezels on the top and sides; this is critical for multiple displays side to side and top over bottom as in my setup. The HP Envy 4K and the Acer 4K both have even thinner bezels, but did not match feature or display quality in my opinion.

      Now the bad:

I wanted to give this display five stars, but I needed to knock a half-star (resulting in four on Amazon) because of the LG propensity to build awful onscreen user interfaces and obnoxious indicators.

The display is a bit slow to fire up after sleep, in part because it uses auto-input detection, which I can live with, but it insists on displaying a popup window indicating connection type, color profile and EnergyStar rating; then it goes black again, before finally displaying Desktop or Login screen. This is not only awkward and annoying to wait several seconds for, but is especially obvious when my other four displays pop on immediately, including one connected via DisplayPort.

I thought it *might* be a behavior of my video card or Mac with multiple displays, but it does the same thing on any native DisplayPort machine of any age. Terrible, needless user experience.

Then, as if that weren't obnoxious enough, when the video card output goes to Sleep, the display doesn't recognize a Sleep command, and instead goes to black, then almost immediately to a full, bright gray screen with a message indicating signal loss and that it will put itself to sleep "in a few moments." A few annoying seconds later, it finally does go to sleep, long after my other displays went black on command. Same behavior on any computer.

This is just sloppy programming, as they are assuming you may want it to auto-switch to a different input source, such as a TV input via HDMi or a second DisplayPort device like a Playstation. There is not, but should be, a setting to lock it to a single input, and have it accept Sleep/Wake commands without telling me about its connection or loss thereof.

This behavior is unacceptable when in or near a bedroom; if the computer wakes briefly for network access, or overnight maintenance ops, most displays will remain dark until told to wake. This LG, however, flashes on with both the connection message noted above, and repeats the 'no signal' routine for several seconds numerous times during the night. Just plain stupid.

Another annoyance is the INSANELY BRIGHT BLUE FLASHING POWER LED when the display is finally asleep. I had to put gaffers tape over the button recess on the bottom of the display to keep the entire room and nearby areas from glowing with near-reading level on/off blue light. It blocks access to the onscreen control toggle, but once I got it set up and fine-tuned for single-use with my Mac Pro, I didn't really care. However, if I need the control for brightness or a change of color space, I have to peel the tape to access and reapply.

There should be a setting to at least dim the damn light, or better, turn it off altogether. It just isn't needed for most computer setups. It's just masturbatory engineering at tis finest.

Now this model and any of the 68 series are hard to find, rarely available and for far more money; they have been superseded by the 27UD88 series, a USB-C/Thunderbolt-3 version which would require expensive DisplayPort adapters to use without native Thunderbolt support. Sad that LG doesn't continue to make this model available instead of the lesser 27UD58-B "gamer edition" with a much fatter bezel and far less bright screen.

If you need a 4K with DisplayPort or HDMI and can find one of these for at or under $500, you won't be disappointed; if you can use USB-C or Thunderbolt connections, look for the 27UD88 series which occasionally go on sale for under $500; there is a consumer and enterprise edition with one and three year warranties, respectively, so try to grab the enterprise version 27MU88(W,-W) LG Electronics 27MU88-W 27-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor which is otherwise identical, and has gone on sale for under $550.

After two other HD monitors bought and returned for varying reasons, this one hit the mark. First, it arrived on time and packaged well. Secondly, especially compared with the other two monitors, was an absolute breeze to put together. The picture is amazing, and response exceptional. I'm not a hard-core gamer, so I can't comment on that aspect, but for games I do play, it is great. The controls are unique, intuitive and easy. The only nits are the stand is a bit wobbly, but not overly so, and I don't notice any wobble myself. The second item, which doesn't bother me but may bother some, is that the power supply is separate, and not part of the monitor. Like I said, it doesn't bother me and, in fact, adds to the sleek design. For others, however, it could be an issue.

I bought this and the Dell U2718Q at the same time and keep them side by side. I use them for amateur but high-end video and Photoshop work. Plastic back makes it look cheaper than the Dell; quality is close but I think the Dell surpasses it. Does not come with USB ports which I use extensively with the Dell, another drawback. Overall, a very good HD monitor.

If you are upgrading to 4K, then you are looking for a quality visual experience. While the screen is matte the silver trim around the outside is shiny and glares from my ceiling lights. Rather than send it back and get something better, I just decided to mark it black with a permanent marker because I was moving in a few days out of state and I didn't want to hassle with the return. Souldn't have done that. Now I cannot return it.

After putting the stand on, I found that the stand is super flimsy and hardly holds the weight of the monitor. Also you cannot adjust the elevation of the monitor. I purchased another stand for it, and it was not easy to see how to take the stock stand off once you have put it on. I ultimately ended up taking a hack saw to it so that I could get the lame stand off. Finally got it on my strong and adjustable and stand. Now that I have it plugged in I cannot get the sound to connect. I connected my hdmi into a BenQ monitor and it works perfectly. Regarding picture quality, white colors on the LG monitor appears slightly yellowish when placed next to my BenQ monitor. My experience with this LG monitor has been disastrous.

I used this as my main monitor for my design business for the last two years without any problems, the panel has been very clear and color reproduction is near perfect with great viewing angles but unfortunately today the panel developed two lines of dead pixels. I would hope that my particular panel is an exception but given the price I have to assume that most of these monitors will have a failing display panel within 2 years.

man, these are really quality monitors. they are even lit and the picture is just amazing. they are actually feature right too. i probably wont use many of the features like split screen and such but it is nice to have those and like i said, the picture is amazing!

the stands are easily adjustable on height and tilt. there are no locks or preset heights, you can set them to whatever height you want. the plug also dont have the converter on them rather it is inline which doesnt clog up a power strip. i am extremely happy with the pair i bought!

5.0 out of 5 stars The LG27UD68 may be the best value 4k monitor on the market. Seriously.
Reviewed in Canada on July 8, 2018
The media could not be loaded.
The LG 27UD68 is a great looking monitor. In terms of I/O, It's got a display port, two hdmi 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio out jack for headphones, and the DC-in port for power. That’s about it. No USB ports :(

It has 27 inch 4k IPS panel with AMD freesync. At first glance, the monitor looks amazing. I’m not a huge fan of the aggressive anti-glare coating that LG used, but it does cut down on reflections fairly well. Viewing angles are great given that it’s an IPS panel, but the vertical viewing angles seem to fair a little better than the horizontal. Both are more than acceptable though. Brightness is very good at about 300 nits, but there is a decent amount of backlight bleed present in all four corners. This could be specific to my monitor only, but I doubt it. Color reproduction is decent across the board.

Speaking of gaming, this is where this monitor really shines. It has a standard refresh rate of 60hz which is the norm for 4k monitors, but it also has a respectable 5 milliseconds of response time with no perceivable lag and minimal blurring. As mentioned before, if you have an AMD GPU, you’ll be able to take advantage of the built in AMD freesync for a more smooth gaming experience.

So, everything considered, is this monitor worth buying? Definitely. Check out the full video review on my YouTube channel for more information!

Comes with both DP1.2 and HDMI cables... BUT if you are using it with a late model Macbook (USB-C) don't use an adaptor... (even Apples dongle/adapter didn't work) After much testing with Apple Support, we found this cable from the Apple Store did the trick. (Moshi USB-C to DisplayPort Cable)
The monitor is beautiful... crisp... bright... super thin bezel and raising and lowering easy. Love it.
