First off - I'm a heavy user. It's on almost 24/7. I try to make sure it gets a chance to be off for a bit.
Second - This is my first flat screen. It's taking time and my feet are dragging me to the newer stuff, so plz don't roll the eyes too bad.
I did some research and decided I wanted aTV that did not have the "Smart" capabilities tying it down to any particular service provider or if I found something to use that it would be compatible with my TV.
So I got the TV relatively quickly, the box was in good shape. Nothing was amiss as I opened it. The stand was easy to put together and set up in a way to maximize the balance. So I got it set up And turned it on. Beautiful screen.
I played around with the video and audio setting as well. There are a couple video set up options that will walk you through in setting up the screen. It was done real simple and you didn't have to guess what sliders were doing what.
The best thing I've found so far (and there's a couple) is the picture settings that you can save. I have one for regular use and the other I use when I get migraines and I can turn the brightness down without sacrificing the colors. So nice for the soft light and when I can't sleep.
Another thing I found to be useful is the mini wheel to control the settings. No longer do you have to go to a full screen to change a few minor things. These changes can be done with the well laid out remote.
The screen is great, no "white" showing around the edges. If the movie goes to a black part, like in a horror movie or change between scenes, it goes black and you can't tell where the screen edges are.
Almost forgot - The sound. With which I was impressed. It has the two speakers, one on either side, and facing front. No longer do the people in my kitchen have to hear what I was watching in the bedroom.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this TV for friends and family.
UPDATE:
It's been just about a year to the day that I've gotten this TV. I'm still in love with it and continue to be amazed by the picture quality. I am a heavy user, as noted above, and have kept it on almost all the time. No dead pixles, white bleeding through, or fading.
On further exploration of the options/controls, I found the "Energy Saving" feature. This has been a Godsend compared to my having to set a different specific profile for when I have migraines. Just set up the one Picture Wizard you like and then use the energy control to reduce the brightness without sacrificing any of the picture quality.
The sound, to me, seems fine. Again, people in other parts of the house don't have to hear what I'm watching. There are several sounds options: such as cinema, news, music, sports and games. I imagine with a sound bar or for set up it would be amazing.
There is the ability to set up individual favorite channel lists for family members.
I realized after writing the original review, there was so much more that I discovered. I bet there's still more to yet be discovered.
The only flaw I have noticed, and it may not even be a flaw with the TV, but with my satellite service. There's occasionally one blurry line that comes across the screen, like from an old CRT TV. Just one little blink and it's gone. So it could be from my satellite co. I'll keep an eye on it, it's all one can do.
