P.S. Another negative in a review I read....the stand on this LG is not very sturdy. Hogwash!! This TV is just as sturdy on its stand as was my previous tv with a more substantial base...
UPDATE (1 month later) - Even more happy with this purchase. I decided to update all my hdmi cables from 1.4 to the 4K 2.0 version. I also ran a cat6 with an hdmi extender to eliminate my 35' hdmi cable run to the tv from my satellite box. All of this improved the picture on the tv to a point of amazement!! Words can't express the picture quality! So my advice to you is that if you have old hdmi 1.4 version cables, do yourself a favor and upgrade them to 4K 2.0. Small price to pay for the level you will get from this tv. Also, no need to pay high prices for expensive cables. The cheap ones work just fine!!
UPDATE July 2018 - I am so sorry to the people who have asked me to share my settings. I haven't been back to look at my review in awhile and there are no alerts when a comment is written. It may be a little late but I will go over my settings this weekend and post them. At least it will give you something to compare to. If you have found something better after looking it over by all means let me know that I was wrong.

here is the negative about this TV. it does have a really weak (unusable) local dimming feature, and if you are into watching very dark content (aka features or high end TV) it will start to bump up against its contrast limitations. Again, this won't be noticed by many people. but it will get a little blue/ washed out in very dark scenes, if you are watching in a dark room.
so summary - its will look stunning 98 percent of the time to 98 percent of people. for Chris Nolan its prob not gonna cut it. he would buy the 4K OLED for a couple grand more.
With the picture issue resolved, I've now started trying some of the "Smart" features. Here is where I'm knocking a star off of this TV. The TV doesn't seem to do well with my wireless Internet connection. It connects...sometimes, but it never stays connected. I've only gotten 5 minutes into a Netflix show before the dreaded revolving arrow of death appears as it rebuffers. I actually haven't been able to hold a connection long enough to download the Amazon app, either. I can live with this since I have a PlayStation 3 connected to the TV and it has a rock solid wireless connection, but it would be nice if the "Smart" features worked. To LG's credit, they do recommend a wired connection, and that would likely provide better access to the TV's "Smart" features. In my case, I'd rather not run a wire through the length of my crawl space and then open up my wall again just to access those features. I'll keep using the PlayStation instead.
On the plus side, I like the Magic Remote that comes with the TV. It's kind of cool to have a mouse-like pointer on the screen to select whatever it is you want selected. That's especially nice for those of us who need reading glasses to see the tiny buttons on the remote. Just use it as a giant mouse and work off the giant screen.
One final comment about the advertisements that are included with this TV. I've read some reviews where people complain about these ads. I haven't had any ads because during the initial setup, the TV asks you if you want to turn the ads on or off. Just tell it you want the ads off and you won't get any of them. When the question came up, I actually wondered why anyone would ever keep the ads on. Still not sure about that.

We don't need a sound bar for this TV, the sounds is great. Picture quality is excellent and it's FPS is more than enough for a house of serious gamers.
