Before I start complaining about this DVD drive I think the seller is not responsible in this case, and I was planning to give it a great review based on my first test. I was going to buy two of these DVD drives, one for a Desktop and another for a laptop, both Lenovo 2017 PCs that require these 0.4in or 9mm DVD Drives, I thought it would be nice to upgrade them to a slot loading DVD drive and I found these at a good price. What happened is that when I unplugged the DVD drive after testing it in the desktop, the male base power plug from the drive broke into the Female Power Plug Cable that comes from the mother board. The pins are intact, so I carefully took the broken base out of the plug and added a piece of plastic, like one of the pictures shows. This put pressure into the pins and it works, but just in this kind of desktop. I won’t try to return it, because I made it work for me. I like how my desktop looks and functions with this drive. I won’t buy another one and will not recommend it for a laptop, if this happens in a laptop it would ruin it. It would be harder to take out the broken piece from a laptop connection. I was unlucky this happened to me, but lucky that I tested first in the desktop. In many years working with computers, this is the first time this has happened to me, that a SATA connection device goes back to become ATA or IDE. I hope this was a glitch and not a feature!

I had to replace a slot load DVD in my Antec ISK300 mini ITX HTPC case. This drive plays any DVD well, even ones scratched by my kids. All the mounting holes are correct, because this is for laptops! Note that this drive is extremely thin, 9.5mm!

I previously purchased the evga hadron drive for my two node 804, turns out that both the evga drive cant read and kept ejecting the disc out for no reason, even if it able to attempt to read the disc, it made loud noise so loud that i thought my casing gonna explode.

then i chance upon this LG slim optical drive, so far only one been delivered to me, without its LG original box, it came with the typical amazon bubble wrapped packaging only.

it also doesnt comes with the sata+power cable but luckily i can reuse the one from evga hadron drive.

finally it worked! initially i insert my disc in with the image facing towards me, once it goes in, it took awhile before it spit out again, at that point of time i thought to myself that am i that lucky?

then after many attempt of inserting in and seeing it ejecting out, i decided to invert the disc and insert again, this time round the bottom of the disc is facing me, and viola! it starts to read and auto play the content of the disc!

right now im a happy man because finally my first node 804 is full operational and good to go!

side note was that i realized that the reading speed a tad bit slow, but to me i guess its still alot better than cant read it at all right? lol.

      cheers!

Was looking for a Ncase m1 optical drive but this one lies. It works and does everything but there's a flap that opens instead of the disk just sliding out

It didn't come with all of the hardware I needed for installing it in a small form factor case (I needed an adapter for the peer/data connections). It works well though.
