I am a complete phone nerd, and a recognized contributor on XDA Developers where all kinds of Android phone modifications are developed and discussed, if that means anything to you. So when I got a chance to put the LG G4 through it's paces I jumped at the chance. My test only lasted about 2 hours, so while it's a thorough review I can't speak about battery longevity.

This is a very nice phone.

❖ The processor felt snappy in my tests. I don’t deal with benchmark tests because cell phone makers know how to score well on tests despite real world usage. (Ramping up processing speed, memory to the GPU, etc) In real world tests this phone could handle anything I tried on it with snappy response time. It didn’t lag when trying to do anything. Apps loaded fast. Switching between apps was fast. It’s a fast phone.

❖ The 2560x1440 higher than HD 5.5 inch display is very nice. The resolution is higher than you need in a phone, but it looks really awesome. The colors aren’t as vibrant as some other devices, but they feel more true. Some phones over saturate the color pallet to make graphics look better. But this can make photos and videos look over colored. Personally I’d rather a more realistic color pallet than a more vibrant one. The G4 feels more realistic.

❖ The camera is good. And out of the box it gives you the ability to take photos in RAW format, which professional photographers use because it’s lossless compared to other file formats. I’m not a photography expert so I can’t speak more on the RAW format, but I know photogs love this. If you know how to use RAW photos to get more out of your pictures, then good news…the G4 can give you RAW.

Wow!!! LG hit it right on with one! I was on the fence between the LG G4 and the Samsung S6. But after owning this phone for about 1 month now I can honestly say that I'm very satisfied with my decision to go with the G4... Anyone who has been doing a little research will know about all the rave over this phone's camera. To say that phone take good pictures is an understatement. This phone is capable of taking amazing, high quality pictures! If you know anything about operating manual mode on a DSLR then you can exploit this phone's full manual mode to capture photos that will easily out shine ANY phone on the market! Even in auto mode the sensitivity to light is such that you'll most likely never need to use the flash.

As far as speed - this phone runs and responds quickly. I've never experienced any lags or stutters even with over 20 apps running in the background. All high demanding games and live wallpapers runs very smooth... As noted this phones comes with 32gb of storage - which may be enough to satisfy some. But now with the latest, largest microSD card having 200 GB, if you decide to buy this phone you'll not only have a phone with the best camera on the market, but you can also have a phone that boasts the largest storage on the market!

The one thing that I was concerned about before buying this phone was the placement of the speaker being on the rear. Especially since my previous phone's speaker was placed at the bottom next the usb port. But the quality and volume that this speaker produces makes up for the placement. You'll instantly notice that LG didn't go cheap with this speaker, its' sound is well balanced and silky smooth.

The LG G4 is fantastic! Its sleek shape is a pleasure to hold and use. I did have trouble transferring my Sprint phone number to my LG G4. The fault, however, is mine. I put into the LG G4 the SIM card from my HTC ONE. Apparently, you are not supposed to do that.

The LG G4 is fast and easy to use. The power button and volume buttons on the back of the phone make it very easy to use the camera without shaking the phone. The camera on the rear is an amazing 16 megapixels. The forward facing camera is a respectable 8 megapixels.

The processor is fast at 1.8GHz and it has an impressive 3GB of RAM. In other words, the LG G4 has lots of processing power to avoid lags in switching between apps and lots of RAM to run many different apps at once.

I love the fact that, the back cover comes off. Too many phones nowadays are sealed units that cannot easily be opened. What are you supposed to do when your battery needs replacing, buy a whole new phone?

I read on Wikipedia that the LG G4 suffered from lagging. I have not experienced that at all. The phone is fast and responsive. There were also reviews complaining about bloatware, but that is bound to happen with any major cellular service carrier. I have Sprint and once my phone was activated a bunch of free apps from Sprint were downloaded to the phone. It’s not a big deal; the new apps can be removed and some of them even looked interesting.

All in all, the LG G4 gets five out of five stars.
