We were replacing an older plasma tv in the living room. We have another HD LED tv in bedroom. Both tv’s were entry level. When it came time to replace the plasma I went to walmart and got a $400 Vizio. We were extremely disappointed with the picture. Too dark and contrast was terrible. We have a wide living room and wide viewing angles. The Vizio looked washed out and lost it’s color at wider angles. I returned the Vizio to wamart and was amazed at all the tv’s in return area. The girl said they get a lot of tv returns so I knew I was going to have to do some research. I came across this LG OLED 55” BX tv. It took me a few weeks to make up my mind because of the price and a ratings.com review that stated it didn’t get bright enough.
We have had it 3 days now and I am stunned at how good the picture is. I have never seen anything like it. When watching a 4k HDR show on Prime Video it is a completely different viewing experience. It almost seems like you are in the room with the actors as they are filming the scene. It is such an amazing picture and overall feel to it that it actually takes getting used to. I turned on every light in living room and surrounding areas and the tv was plenty bright. No matter what I watch the picture is simply amazing. This is first higher end tv I’ve purchased and it’s definitely worth the price. At any viewing angle the picture is great. Ratings.com lists the screen settings they changed on it. I haven’t done that yet but plan to. The magic remote was easy. If you don’t like the pointer press one of the arrows and it acts like traditional remote. The smart tv system on it is awesome. Works instantly. I think the tv sounds really good. I am just using tv speakers not a sound bar. There is a risk of screen burn but we watch varied content so I’m not too concerned. The dark scenes are on a different level with OLED. The black is black and you notice details you would miss on other tv’s. I have only had it a few days and will update this review as I’ve had more time watching it. After reading other reviews I was extremely careful unboxing, putting on the stand and setting tv in place. The screen is really thin. It’s impressive. I will try to include some pics of it from different viewing angles.

Now if only they would broadcast more things in 4K! Love how it looks in my living room and it's amazing how thin it is. The stand is also quite modern and sturdy. Everything about this TV just feels and looks premium. On the gaming side, it handles all the latest requirements to get the most out of next generation consoles including HDMI 2.1 for 120hz fps and it automatically detects and switches modes to optimize the gaming experience. For optimal picture, make sure to set the power saving options to off.
