1) add a 32 GB SD card
2) move all apps possible to the SD card (don't move apps with widgets, or the widgets won't work)
3) if an app has a way to define where to store its data, choose a folder on the SD card
4) When downloading a new app and it gives an insufficient space error, try this:
- go to Settings>Apps>All and for apps you don't use, uninstall or disable them
- some won't let you uninstall them, but you can "uninstall updates" and restore the factory version. This will free up space for you to use, but the app won't actually be gone. The updates take up space you could potentially use, but the factory version is in a different storage location. Be careful and DON'T uninstall critical apps, like the PlayStore and system apps, though some of the Google apps can be disabled after their updates are removed. Personally, I don't use Talkback, VuTalk, Google Play Music, Google Play Games, Google Play Books, Magazines, and Movies, so I have all of them disabled. Same with the T-Mobile apps now that I'm using AT&T. If it has the little android guy as the icon, LEAVE IT ALONE, it's most likely an operating system file.
- When looking at the app info, see how much cache is being used. Some may be tiny, but I've found several apps with 30-70MB of cache. Click Clear Cache on these storage hogs.
Once unused apps are removed or set to factory/disabled and cache is cleared, there should be enough room to load a few apps. Sometimes when I tell the PlayStore to "update all my apps", I'll still get the message, not enough storage. This ususally happens with a large download, like Firefox. So I'll go clear cache again, and that usually frees up enough space.
Things that I didn't quite like about the phone was that it has such little storage space on it, so adding alot of apps was out of the question. I've added a micro SD 30g card which can store all my photos and work documents I get through email. Another thing not great about the phone is the pictures do not come out as well as they do on the iPhone, but the photos are acceptable for what I need them for.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.
I would give it zero stars if I could. I bought the new phone here just few months back . It has only 1.2 gb of memory available to use . I was constantly running out of memory and could not install many apps...I had to delete or transfer photos and apps constantly on a daily basis or the thing would freeze while using. The built-in alarm app and the weather app stopped working after a while.
Apart from this issue... a couple of months after using it the phone started heating up and would just shutdown.
It finally would not charge at all as the charger would not plug into its slot. I am extra careful with my phone and it was not damaged in any way. This phone was so frustrating to use with constant problems.
I sent it to LG service center on their advise only to be told that I must've caused the damage and they would be charging me! Customer service was terrible too. They were unwilling to listen to me explain that the issues happened without any damage and I don't know what good is the warranty if they say everything that goes wrong with the phone is caused by the user?!
Its an inferior quality piece of junk and this will be the last LG phone I ever buy.
Do not waste your money! I'm going to look for a Samsung, iPhone or Lumina now. Never had issues with these!
have only been using this phone for about a week but so far I love it! It does come loaded with a lot of T-Mobile bloatware which so far haven't caused me any problems. Still trying to decide if I'm going to root it or not with my luck I'd end up bricking it! The low storage kinda bothered me but again haven't had any problems as yet I use Clean Master which helps me keep my memory use down by constantly reclaiming memory & storage. Will post another review if I run into any problems with it.
