Top customer reviews
I bought the Stylo2 to use as a WIFI Phone, Social Media Tool, and Media player for music, movies and gaming device.
This device is truly Amazing. It is a prefect tablet replacement. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. This device is near perfect!
Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor
Quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 2GB of RAM deliver outstanding overall performance for opening and running applications, flipping through menus.
Very Light and Thin, Lighter and thinner than the iPhone 6
5.7" HD IPS touch screen display beautiful images and colors.
2GB Ram (ESPN, VEVO, YOUTUBE, CRACKLE, NETFLIX, KODI, Runs FLAWLESS!!!)
Android 6.0 Marshmallow (Runs very smooth without lagging and ability to exit apps 100% allowing better memory management)
Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS (Locked version, will not allow you to copy APPS to SD cards. Can not make SD card the primary storage. You can only add photos, music, roms, doc and movies to SD card). Thanks to the 16GB internal storage it allows extra space for apps compared to the 8GB prepaid phones that are in the same price range .
Back Speaker (It's pretty loud, but you will have to get use to the sound projecting away from you)
None of the Virgin Mobile or LG people offered an explanation for this or wanted to see the photos. Under warranty since it's only two months old, Virgin Mobile offered to send me out another (new? refurbished?) phone, but I'd be charged a $25 "fee". LG will let me send it in for repair after doing a factory reset, but I'll be without a phone for weeks. I screwed up and bought this with an Amazon gift card, so no credit card purchase protection either; I'm at the mercy of Virgin Mobile and LG. Buyer beware. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, but if it does, there's no easy fix. This shouldn't happen after two months of light use.
UPDATE: I think I figured out the issue-- something to do with the aux/headphone input causes the screen to blue out like my photos. If I twist the cable in the input jack, sometimes it goes back to normal. I'm trying to use bluetooth audio as much as possible to avoid any recurrences, and it's worked so far.
Overall, this is a very nice phone at a great price. It's not meant to rival a high-end model, so there are a few drawbacks:
-The camera has a lack of customization settings (which maybe is a good thing for some).
-There is some bloatware that comes with the phone and cannot be deleted (pretty much every cheap Android seems to have this).
-The rear speaker is reminiscent of a 1970s AM radio.
Otherwise, the phone works well. It's plenty fast enough, the screen looks good and the Marshmallow version of Android is quite good. I've been pleased by the call quality so far.
The big selling point of the Stylo 2 is the built-in stylus and note taking capabilities. It functions quite well. The phone detects when the stylus is popped out of the compartment and a menu shows up on screen with some note taking apps. The stylus is sort of cheap plastic, but it does the job. The apps seem to make my terrible handwriting a little more legible, which is hard to do :) I'm not sure how much I'll use this functionality but I do think it's worthwhile for anyone who just wants to write a quick note. You can even write notes over a photo and send it on to someone, which could be great for a businessperson.
The biggest plus on this phone for me is the extra memory. It's very hard to find a phone in this price range that isn't saddled with just 8GB. I already have more installed on my Stylo 2 than I did on the old phone and still have about 7GB of free space left.
I'd definitely recommend the Stylo 2 for anyone who is looking for a larger screen on a budget. There are some quirks to get used to, but overall well worth the price.
