The Box arrived damaged. The box containing the monitor which was inside the brown box was even more damaged with a hole through it all the way to the screen.
I plugged it in to my ps4 and ran Netflix on it for about 2 minutes and did not notice any dead pickles or damage from shipping.
The 4 mounting screws that hold the monitor to the mount are missing so as far as the unboxing goes I give this a 2 star. It gets 1 for arriving and one for turning on.
This may get more stars later after testing.
Update: I got some time in on it. Picture is great and the ability to have custom profiles at the click of a button is awesome.
No dead pixels and no visible lines if I’m st least 2’ away from the screen. Great monitor
This monitor has many possible adjustments - which may be advantageous for a gaming monitor but it is not for a general purpose one. There are too many combinations of possible adjustments. The blacks are not as black as the Surface's, the whites are not as white, and the colors are not as vibrant, no matter what combination of adjustments one uses.
I took the Surface and this monitor to a nearby Microsoft Store hoping that an expert can adjust the monitor better than I can. A MS tech guy spent 20 to 30 minutes trying to adjust the picture. He too was unable to adjust it to be anywhere near the quality of the Surface's picture. He gave up, eventually, with the comment, "I guess this is as good as it gets." Disappointing, and a waste of money. My wife will probably never use this monitor.

The contrast and brightness levels are great. The black image stabilizer is really nice as it really helps in games having dark areas. For example, the corners in Dust2 tunnels.
It has a 144Hz refresh rate which makes games look smooth and nice provided you have a high-end graphics card. It has FreeSync which is awesome when paired with a Radeon card.
I was not able to figure out the response time. They say "1ms motion blur" which I am pretty sure is a marketing gimmick. But I did not notice any lag when playing games which is great.
The factory colour calibration was perfect. I did not need to change any settings via the OSD. The OSD is very easy to use too.
The monitor has Mode Selection buttons on the bottom front which I really love. Just toggle between them when you are in-game and when you stop playing.
It came with adequate packaging and the monitor was easy to set up. It has VESA mounts for wall mounting as well. The stand has tilt and height adjustment.
The power cable, HDMI cable and DisplayPort cable are all included with the monitor. Awesome!
The FPS1 and FPS2 preset are too sharp and too bright respectively. Not a big deal since you a Custom Game Mode selection as well.
The viewing angles are horrible as expected by a TN panel but they are better than my last monitor.
The connectors are facing downwards which is a pain when connecting the cables.
Overall a great monitor. In case you want to check out my build on PCPartPicker I have shared the URL in the comments section.
- 144hz + freesync (Works perfectly with gsync on my GTX 1070 ti)
- pretty good colors (but change the default gamma (mode 2) to mode 3)
- AMAZING response time most on TN have about 4ms but this one is about 3.4ms
- BAD BAD BAD color banding in dark scenes if you come from an IPS panel you will notice 100% (i might ask LG if it's
normal, but im pretty sure it is, cause i've seen alot of people complaining about TN's pannels and color banding)
Very good monitor for the price, and btw the stand is pretty good don't worry but if you do alot of photoshop etc I can only recommand it if you have already a IPS monitor that you could couple it with. But if gaming is your priority, JUST BUY IT !
It does support Freesync but you need an AMD card for it. I have asked for a replacement since this particular piece was faulty.
1. Excellent quality TN panel that is certified by LG for the 144Hz refresh rate.
2. Great for a competitive FPS player for 1080p gaming. If you are into ESports and budget limited this monitor is a must buy!
3. AMD Freesync technology support. Freesync is a technology that dynamically controls the refresh rate based on actual FPS in the game to prevent the screen tearing effect. The Freesync monitors only work with AMD cards.
1. The TN panel by default does not have the vibrant color reproduction capability of an IPS monitor. So if you a content creator like a video editor or photography buff this is not the monitor for you. This is only for gamers playing fast paced titles like PUBG, Dota etc..
2. Don't buy this monitor if you don't have a good mid range video card that can run at above 60HZ in modern games at 1080p
Best calibration settings from what I've found after using calibration tests:
Gamma: Mode 4
Black Stabilizer: 65
Response Time: Normal
This is my first 144hz monitor, and I was worried about screen tearing. But you don't have to worry about that. Screen tearing is not noticeable at all at these refresh rates. You have to look VERY hard to see it (and even then, it's extremely difficult to notice). I'm not using Freesync since I have an Nvidia card. No need to spend extra on G-sync.
Excelente producto LG <3
