Swype Keyboard

An alternative to the Android virtual keyboard, the Swype virtual keyboard allows you to input text by swiping the finger with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard. Based on testing, speed and accuracy are equal to or better than the traditional keyboard-tapping method. You can activate the Swype keyboard by pressing and holding in a text field, wait for popup to appear, click Input Method, and then select Swype.

In the image to the right, the word "mind" was generated from tracing the path shown above in a fraction of a second, by roughly aiming to pass through the letters of the word. A key advantage to Swype is that there is no need to be very accurate, enabling very rapid text entry.

This is the first smart phone I have owned and I really enjoy it. It stays charged for me and I like the setup. I dont have a problem with my battery it usually last me a day or two depending on how much web browsing I do. It has also replaced my mp3 player. Its nice to be able to have your phone with you while you excercise instead of both a phone and mp3/ipod! Also I like the fact that I can connect to my home internet since I only pay for the 150mb plan, that way I dont go over my data plan.

Ok so I have little experience with touch screens nor much with apps. However its working out great. I am taking my time getting to understand how it works. I Wanted a smart
phone but was worried I would be stuck with to big of a phone. I have noticed how much bigger the screens r on the smart phones. I wanted all the larger phone had to offer but that would fit in my hand. I am enjoying all the new and fun things I can do with this phone. For my small hands this is a perfect choice for me. The only complant that I have is that this phone doesnt have a flash. Other then that its awsome. It does what I need it to do and thats what matters. Love it!!

So after receiving this phone for free on Verizons 3G, I am quite impressed with it after running some of my magic on it. Stock its an alright phone for browsing the web and such but I needed it to connect my laptop too. Verizon wants to charge me for the mobile hotspot and I immediately began looking for alternatives. I found that you must "Root" the phone in order to gain free "Tethering." So I did and began the hunt for a suitable application. After finding one and installing it messing with the settings I was sure that I would be stuck with Ad Hoc for a connection type. It was slow, the phone heated up, and it took some tweaking on my PC to get it to connect. After months of using it as such I finally found an update to the app, and it supported Infrastructure, or Access point, which is what all wireless routers run. I immediately updated played with the settings and thought that I would still be stuck with Ad Hoc. But I kept at it, and finally i got it to run in AP mode allowing me to connect all wireless devices to it. I am now pleased with the performance of this phone and the way it runs especially after I removed all the Bloatware that Verizon put on it. It is a decent smart phone for beginners and those willing to learn how to mess with a Android device, or as a first android phone. All in all, once hacked and "Rooted", some playing around with settings and apps, I give it a 4 star review.

Generally speaking, this is an okay phone. It's my first smartphone, and I am pleased with the battery life, the connection speed, the call quality, and the features.

However, this phone comes pre-loaded with WAY too much junk that you can't uninstall. I call it junk because it is un-useable. It came with official Scrabble and Tetris app- that you have to have a paid account to use. And you can't get rid of them. It comes with sub-standard Twitter and Facebook apps, which both have limited capabilities and multiple better free alternatives on the Android market. And you can't get rid of them. It comes with the Bing browser, which is ridiculously flawed, and there are various free alternative browsers on the market. And you can't get rid of it. Those are only a few of the apps that I wish I could uninstall, because I found an app that does it better, and I am limited on space for apps that I want because I'm stuck with all this crap that I don't want.

It does what I need it to do, and it's not horrible enough that I want to trade it in. But if I had known then what I know now, I would not buy this phone again.
