Can you imagine being given a second chance to undo something terrible? Or would you not change anything?
Interesting concept which Gary Val Tenuta has created and tells tales that are sometimes scary, leave you thinking why a choice is made; but always the novellas cannot be put down!
In this outing, The Good Librarian, we see a young girl running and hiding. She is terrified! She has always been told there is an evil book contained/hidden away in the basement...well children's curiosities get the better of them, and this the case with little girl Beatrice Busby. She went exploring and found the forbidden book, and it scared her so, she swore to the Lord she will be a good Christian and be an example for other Christians.
Beatrice grows up in a warped version of a Christian. She lives in the same house and judges everyone from her own beliefs. She is not very popular. And she does not carry any current popular books she deems unfit for Christians to read, she in Church has her off skewed version of the Good Church Lady...
Halloween is here and two girls and one boy decide to play a practical joke on her; they see she lights candles in the basement and burns books. The girls are hiding downstairs when the doorbell rings.
A woman, Marianna, has come from a distant place. She has the book's mate--and together the two books become super powerful.
Beatrice goes downstairs on the pretense of getting the book ,and she sets fire to the basement and the two ladies escape that fire. However it's shown the two girls hiding perished in the fire...and Marianna escapes...does she have the books or just escapes with her life?
Beatrice is devastated the girls died.
Enter the big limousine and the chauffer gives her a card if she chooses, she can undo everything that happened that night if she does it with a certain amount of time...
Does Beatrice save two innocents or stop the evil book being used?
There is the situation each Second Chance person selected has to face...what should they do???
Mr.Tenuta keeps you guessing, biting your nails, and gasping.
He is just the writer to pull these series off - a fantastic writer, who also has the books The Ezekiel Code and Ash: Return of the Beast. All of his works are excellent reads.
What would you do if you were given a Second Chance?
Ellen George, author of the children's book, Flutterby, and upcoming books of fiction, and Amazon reviewer.
The Good Librarian revolves around a potentially demonic book and a woman who has a long history with it. She was touched by the book's power as a child and has spent her whole life guarding it and fearing it. Until Halloween night, when a mysterious stranger from a distant land comes looking for it for deep, lifelong reasons of her own. The story plays around with what's really evil and what might be the lie. What unfolds is a trip!
Definitely check out the 4-pack, which combines all these stories at a discount. You will be entertained! WANNA TAKE A RIDE? (Four Twisted Tales from the Files of the Second Chance Limousine Service)
Two teenage girls decide to pull a Halloween prank on Ms. Busby which would not turn out well for all concerned. They know, as well as the entire town knows, about the "devil book" hidden away in the library basement. Many said it is just an urban legend though some believe the tale. Ms. Busby burns books she deems "unfit" for Christian people.
Mariana, an old gypsy woman, arrives in town. She desperately wants that book since she has its companion and she's traveled the globe, seeking it for forty years. The time has come! Together, she believes, they hold the wisdom and knowledge of the Serpent of Eden- the story her father passed on to her and begged her to continue his search for it.
All trails lead her to Beatrice Busby, the town librarian, who thinks the gypsy woman is the devil in disguise. A fracas ensues and Beatrice ends up in a hospital. Then comes along - you guessed it - the Second Chance Limousine Service -to give Beatrice another go at trying to change the outcome of this strange, eerie, but totally enjoyable tale!
With all the twists and turns - the Gary Val Tenuta trademark - readers will never guess the surprise that's in store for them as they reach the end. And what an ending!
