"LIFE Expectancy opens your eyes to all of the exciting possibilities ahead... and shows you how to make the rest of your life, the best of your life." ~Brian Tracy, Chairman & CEO of Brian Tracy International and author of Reinvention: Making the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life

One of the best books I've ever read! As a 61-year-old...I can relate to nearly everything in this book. Brilliantly written and incredibly inspirational..." ~John Griffin, Amazon reviewer

From the Author

I am not a politician, an economist, part of the Wall Street crowd, a banker or a retirement planner, and I have never before written a book. The observations made here are simply offered from my point of view as a baby boomer whose sixtieth birthday has passed.

Like so many others, I had fooled myself into holding on to a belief in the perpetual stability of traditional American financial and governmental institutions and systems. I held on to that view even after substantial damage was done to my personal financial situation.

This book is about what I did to transform my life at age 60, and a guide for how you can change your own game, no matter your age. I wrote Life EXPECTANCY to tell the truth about these issues, and to encourage the reader to do something NOW about changing their personal "game" of life. I write about my own story, what I did to change my own game, and how what I learned might be helpful in considering a re-write of yours.

We simply must return to self-reliance and not look to government or financial institutions or others outside of our own inner circle for answers. If you do, it is merely misplaced hope, not a solution for real problems. We have to look in the mirror for the real answer and then we have to act on it with a much greater sense of urgency.

~William Keiper

A recent article reported the top five regrets of the dying:
1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard.
3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Will Keiper notes that on average you will experience less than 30,000 sunrises. And they are ticking away... So the question is: how do you want to use those days ahead?

Keiper's book is designed to help you remember that it's not too late... however old you are.

There's a saying I love: "The best time in life to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time to plant a tree is today." Read Keiper's book and go plant your tree, work on your mission, make a difference, take a risk!

As a lifelong entrepreneur turning 50, I see the prospect of 'retirement' coming at me faster than I once imagined. As I looked at the inevitability of my approaching major life milepost, I am still feeling the pain of the Great Recession economic meltdown, seeing a rapidly changing global economic landscape, and I now believe that government programs will not last to support most Americans (no less the lifestyle I personally wish to maintain). During this time I really thought that I was alone in my thinking that American boomers must take control of our futures and throw out the notion that we'll ride off into a financially comfortable sunset.

I started looking for answers and the book Life Expectancy by William Keiper was recommended to me. After reading Life Expectancy, my own nascent thoughts and concerns about the reality of retirement as we thought it was going to be, were brought into focus. This book tells the real truth about the fact that traditional retirement is not going to happen for my generation. It was a wake-up call for me that I could not and would not be a lemming running off a cliff following tens of millions of other Americans who just aren't getting it. William Keiper offers a truthful and practical approach through which to address these new and serious realities. He makes clear that we must become more self-reliant than ever before, and that I must be prepared to make it happen on my own. As he says "no waiting, the clock is ticking."

Mr. Keiper should stand on a mountaintop and shout the words from his book Life Expectancy repeatedly until everyone can clearly see the reality of what we're facing, and give everyone the opportunity to change their games for the better while they still have time.

Like millions all over the world, you are probably now more aware than ever before that what you expect holds very little influence over how things actually turn out. Maybe it's time to reconsider what you expect about a lot of things - your life, your career, your retirement, and your money.

Life Expectancy will challenge you to do exactly that. This is a hard hitting book with an urgent and important message for us all. Pulling no punches, William Keiper has written a book that will challenge you to stop idly expecting your life to turn out just fine and, instead, take matters into your own hands. He not only challenges you, but he guides the way with examples and powerful stories.

People who know William Keiper, a very successful business leader and consultant, know that he is a fiercely passionate change agent, and they rely on him to tell them the truth, even when it hurts. Why? Because the truth removes their blinders and frees them to take intensely focused action in service of their own best interests.

Keiper reveals how he had to face his own truth. He recently suffered a number of events that had jolted him to the core. Not a man to be victimized, Keiper took a hard look at the truth about himself and his life, and he went to work in his usual fashion. He dug deeply into the issues, committed to change, and took massive action. The work he did was life changing. In Life Expectancy, Keiper shares not only the wisdom he has accumulated over his career but the very best of those transformative lessons.

What I love most about this book is that it takes you from expectations about your life to expectancy - literally being on the edge of your seat as your take charge of your life. As Fredrick Hudson reminds us in these unpredictable times,"...

Life Expectancy offers an antidote to and a pathway for those who are unsure about their personal future and those who do not even know that they should be. Things have indeed changed, substantially more than most people realize. With uncommon clarity, Life Expectancy presents a sobering perspective on mortality and the impact of a new economic and demographic reality that is at once unprecedented and irreversible.

Keiper addresses with palpable urgency, a fundamental requisite shift in the ethos and historical expectations of generations of Americans, as they grow older. He dismisses entrenched conventional perceptions about the limitations of an aging population. According to Keiper `retirement' perceived and accepted as the last act in life's playbook, is rendered hollow by a profound new confluence of a dramatically changed economic paradigm and a massively burgeoning older demographic (The boomers are only the beginning).

Although William Keiper is a highly accomplished public company executive, he sidelines the implicit reserve and ego with an uncharacteristic candor and forthrightness. This makes Life Expectancy an especially engaging read. He openly shares his experiences and life challenges and graciously supports them with magnanimity--through a generous assortment of enlightening scholarly references, and insightful quotes--from Sarte to Churchill, from Jerry Garcia to Albert Einstein.

I often find statistics and data interesting, but usually pretty dry and impersonal.
