Now the Special Edition for PC & MAC is here and I'm happy to inform you that it is still the same great game. Limbo is a side scroller game that is best played at mid to high levels of sound, so you can truly appreciate the sound FX. You are a kid, suddenly wake up and find yourself in a forest, your quest begins, you can only jump and grab things. You will run into traps, huge spiders, creepy habitants and for a game that looks so simple, you will encounter some nasty, wicked deaths... It's like nothing you've played before.
The graphics remain the same as the 360 version. Creepy, dark, yet beautiful backgrounds. Controls are very easy, so all players should find it easy to adjust. You can use the mouse & keyboard or a 360 controller. I tried both and worked great.
The Special Edition contains the game, its soundtrack, lithograph cards wich contain screenshots of various sections of the game and some other cool parts of it, they are thick as expected from lythographs, also, a cool looking head sticker and a cheap pair of 3D glasses, which brings my next point...
...3D Mode: This was not good from the game menu, but let me explain my set-up to better understand. I have an Nvidia 3D Vision enabled monitor, so when I tried to engage the game's own 3D mode, I didn't see nothing but red and blue (the glasses colour).Read more ›
Be warned: Mine was shipped naked in a thin bubble mailer. The corners got crushed in transit. I tried to get a replacement but Amazon only offered a 10% refund. Now I have a $23 crushed special edition copy of Limbo.
ARTCARDS: The thing that first drew me to this game was the art. These cards do not disappoint. There are a few that are simply stunning, the one featuring the spider being my favorite, with the one of a few of the boy's deaths in second (grim, but isn't the game anyways?)
STICKER: I was hesitant to use the sticker (there is only one... it is a big commitment!) but I finally placed it on my Macbook Pro! Unfortunately I couldn't place him over the glowing logo (so when i turned on the computer his eyes lit up) but he is there on my computer all the same.
THE GLASSES: I wasn't sure about this one. Limbo is a 2-d game, I thought, what difference will it make? But once I enabled 3-d mode, and started the game from the top, I realized how much of a game changer it is. By wearing the glasses it enables a depth in the bg of the game, and with the volume on high, you even more easily immerse yourself in... well, limbo. Playing this way is a great way to make a 2nd play through fresh.
SOUNDTRACK: Only 6 songs but great. I listen to them when I write or read, they evoke the moods in limbo that I love so.
BOX++: Mine had a very light scratch you can only see in direct light, but I don't mind. the packaging is real eye candy, both on the disc as well as the CD vest (which features new art which is just as lovely!)
GAME++: the drm is really handy because I've already given this game to two different people who were too afraid to buy it without playing. They soon realized their mistake and loved the game too!
Many a night spent on our PC trying to win. The graphics are stunning. they draw you in. Haven't come to the end yet, that's part of the draw.
So as far as my review is concerned: the game alone is worth your money.
The art style is lovely, the story (as it were) is engaging without being disruptive, or seeming divided from the game. It is effective and interesting because it is relayed in what you're doing in the game, and with subtle clues.
The whole game is like that. Subtle clues in a captivating atmospheric world.
I don't generally like platformers, but this lovely, lovely game just oozes charm and finesse. It is equal parts fun to play, and gorgeous to watch.
This is not an epic length game, but the entirety of it deserves to be included in what was published. There is not a sense of repetition or unnecessary levels or features. Limbo stands on its own, as an excellent game.

This game is an infuriating, tedious, mess of a game. I'm glad I didn't spend any money on it.Published 14 months ago by Shortlived86
The art is beautiful, the game is challenging.
BUT IT CRASHES!!!!!
Great game, but using the keyboard as a controller was a challenge. (Although I was able to make it to the end faster than with a handheld controller.)Published 17 months ago by Susan Hankins
