I remember watching this game on GSN (Game Show Network) and loving it. I have always been a fan of word games. This game for kindle plays just like the TV show did. There are 3 rounds in which you have to guess the 5 letter word. You are given a clue to begin with. You type in your answer and the game lets you know if you are right. If you are right, you proceed to your lingo board (more about that later). If you are not right, you are told whether or not any of the letters in the word you typed are in the answer. If your letter has a grey square around it - the letter is correct and in the right place. If your letter has a circle around it - the letter is correct but not in the right place. You get 5 chances to get the right answer. By looking at any letters circled or squared you can determine the correct word. If you end up not figiuring out the answer at all, the game does tell you what the word was. Your Lingo board is a square with a 5x5 grid of circles inside . Some have numbers in them and some are blank. On the outside of this square there are circles - 5 circles on each of the four sides. You get to pick any 2 circles everytime you get to the Lingo board having guessed the word. A number is revealed that is the same as one of the numbers inside the square. Then the circle with that number goes blank. The object is to try to get 5 blank circles in a row (horizontal or vertical or diagonal) and that's a LINGO!! If you pick a "stopper" you are done and go back to begin the next round - there are two stoppers! If you pick a prize ball you get half of the amount of what the words are in that round but you don't get to blank out a number and get closer to a Lingo - there are two prize balls as well. Once you get a Lingo, then you are given a new Lingo board to play with.Read more ›

You win some, you lose some. I've played this a couple of times, and ordinarily I love the word games, but this one just doesn't do it for me.

This game is apparently fashioned after some TV game I've never seen. You get a clue and 5 letter slots. You guess a 5-letter word, and the game will tell you how many letters are correct. You get about 4 chances to guess the correct word. You get only one clue (plus the correct letters along the way). Oh, I forgot it's timed, too.

Simply not my cup of tea, so to speak. Frankly, some of the clues are rather obscure.
Clue: Will it bring a fortune?
Answer: Wheel

Yeah, okay, I guess it's Wheel of Fortune, huh?

Only would recommend if you like that sort of thing.

This was a huge dissapoinment. The controls hardly work, it is very frustrating to use. Even though, I enjoy the show and love word games, I archived it after a few tries.

My wife and I love Lingo on TV, and thought that this would be a nice little time waster for doctor's office visits, etc... For the most part it is, but the mechanics of gameplay can be a bit frustrating.

Not having a touch screen Kindle perhaps it is a better experience there, but on the basic Kindle with only the 5-way pad to maneuver...it gets a bit dodgy at times.

Additionally, this game (no others) causes our Kindles to outright freeze, necessitating a hard boot of the Kindle.

If I get a chance to play it with a touchscreen, I'll edit my review.

I didn't care for this game at all. They don't give you the first letter of the word which gives you no starting point. Also unlike the game, you don't have to have words to continue. In the game you have to give a 5 letter word or else you lose. In this version you can just type in any 5 characters to see if one or two hit. I would NOT reccomend wasting your time and money on this one!

This game is lots of fun because it keeps you guessing. I originally assumed it was a form of anagrams, but it is actually more like hangman. Lingo has a gameshow aspect like Wheel of Fortune, but the words to guess are a lot smaller. This makes for a fast-paced, easy to learn game fun for all ages. It even saves your highscores so you can gauge your progress. Lingo is definitely a good buy if you know you're not getting anagrams.

I've never seen this game on TV so I was flying blind when I ordered it. I'm glad I did. With five chances to figure out the word, the challenge is not overwhelming but does require some thinking. As for the LINGO part, I've about decided that's pure luck, which makes your total score as much luck of the draw as it does knowledge of words. All in all, a fun way to spend a little spare time. Well worth the price.

I've never seen the TV show that this is apparently based upon. If you like word games this is good fun. It is quite easy, from an experienced word-gamer's perspective. I have no problem getting most of the words right on the first or second try. If you are looking for a challenge, this is not the best choice. If you want an easy, cute word game. This is your game.
