I've never read anything by K. T. Tomb, and this book was offered by J. R. Rain, whom I do read. Since I loved this book I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.
I loved this book but I'll start with why it got 4 stars instead of 5. At the very beginning there is a lot of descriptive information of the forest, with lots and lots of adjectives and what I call "flowery" words. I almost couldn't get past it. I don't typically read books with so much flowery descriptions; however, once you get passed the initial forest description, and into the characters and plot, much of that type of writing goes away. Again, this is just something I don't particularly like, many great writers do write this way, just not something I like reading. If you happen to not like it either, KEEP READING. :).
Once we got to the characters and the story I was completely drawn in and couldn't put the book down. I love the Mother and Shadow. This is a great coming of age story, that deals with learning how to overcome adversity, and find your place in the world. All told through the eyes of a dog and a wolf pack. Definitely worth the read.
I did receive an advance copy and volunteered to read it and give and honest review that is my own!
What a neat story from the animals perspective. This book follows a wolf pack and a "mutt" that is adopted into their pack. The pack faces many trials and tribulations as their lives intertwine with the human world. What a creative story that is easy to follow and a quick read. I only wish their were more to this story.
K. T. Tomb has done a wonderful job. A+++
