Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I've been a Sequim resident for the last decade. I love the beauty of the Olympic Peninsula and as a result set my last novel, THE LITTLE RED BARN: An Olympic Romance, in this locale. People really seemed to like that book and its setting, so I looked around for something else I might place here. A few years back, while driving near Sequim Bay, I saw a for-rent sign on a large house sitting on the hillside overlooking the water. The sign amused me, and I stored it away in my mind just in case I might be able someday to use it in my writing. Last year, an idea came to me, about a young woman struggling on a limited income to keep a roof over her head for herself and her dog. That house came back to me, and I decided to run with it. Hence, I now have a novel about six lives intertwined because of that rental sign. I enjoyed writing the story, largely because I got such a kick out of my six characters and the tales they needed to tell. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Exploration of Nature and Nurture
By Marie Jamieson on November 18, 2020
A wonderful story of women living life, coming to terms with their pasts, presents and future realities, and making plans that keep them moving forward, engaged with life and each other. I found the older characters particularly interesting and was brought to tears by their courage and awakenings. I value the friendship of women in my own life, for their are emotions and ideas that can only be shared with women. Thank you, Dorothy, for telling this story.
The backdrop for this book is spectacular! Dorothy has captured the beauty of the Olympic Peninsula, the attractions we all love, the places we haunt in our daily lives - places to walk and talk, like the bluffs overlooking the Dungeness Spit and the Spit itself; places to contemplate nature and ourselves, like the trails at the county parks; places to gather and enjoy a live performance or to volunteer and offer service, like the wonderful theatre in Sequim; and, places to enjoy the Pacific Ocean, its bays and inlets, like that offered at John Wayne Marina. I eagerly anticipated each exploration of these places that I love and enjoyed her voice in the descriptions.
An engaging read on many levels. 5 star for sure!
