Despite this being book one in the series I felt like there was precious knowledge I was missing. References to recent history in a number of areas made me feel like there was background about Blizzard I should know. It made me feel off balance.
The main character is (rather oddly) oft referred to by his title (sometimes as Chief Inspector, others as chief inspector)!
The time line seems to be flexible and the logic of incidents baffle belief.
The characters are listed at the end of the book but it would have been more helpful at the beginning since there are lots.
