Who doesn't want there to be a Heaven?
Eternal life in a paradise?
We'd all sign up for that, I'd think.
But because, ironically enough, life can be so cool/cruel, the "afterlife" is a self-created entity ....
LIFE IS COOL
Time flies and you want the party to continue.
The utter finality of "Eternal Nothingness" is quite crushing.
Invent this idea of "a new kind of special life" that exists when you die.
LIFE IS CRUEL
You've suffered so much, Nature owes a paradisical afterlife to you.
For there to be not such a thing is just too -- "it can't be the case"-able ....
Either way, if you have a good life or a bad one, you almost automatically make a case to yourself for there to just have to be an afterlife of some sort.
But, the F-A-C-T is, NDEs are hallucinations.
Well what about the vividness & strength of the experiences, you may say?
I've read way too many accounts of psychotropic drug reactions where the phrase "more real than real" is quite often used to describe the intensity level.
I guess that's just how the brain chemistry works, I suppose.
This has NOTHING to do with me being cold or a non-believer or anything else.
Again -- WHO DOESN'T WANT A HEAVEN?!? lol
And as to this one particular account -- the 5 year old SON OF A BIBLE THUMPER?!?
Not what you'd call the most objective viewpoint for this subject.
I agree with some of the other comments here on this kid's obviously having been coached -- who knows: maybe it does spill over into "psycological molestation".
And maybe they finagled this book just for the $$$ to pay the med bills.
