Nevertheless, some of the tips are quite redundant and, if we were to cut these out, they would surely not add up to 101 anymore. Additionally, this book has several punctuation mistakes which makes the language a bit confusing at times and I believe that it lacks photos or illustrations which would make the book more appealing.
Despite that, it is still written in an engaging voice and with only 12 pages, this book is a quick read that will help you make some easy changes in your lifestyle and, hopefully, make you lose weight.
Keeping a book about weight light (or is that ‘lite’) is a major achievement. In his Introduction he makes is book’s mission clear: ‘In this short work, I'm going to deal with some of the pointers I have picked up over the years about little things that you can do- habits that you can develop that will gradually help you achieve your weight goals. We are not dealing with a huge life-changing, overnight ripsnortin diet. We are doing with little bits and pieces of things that you can do to change your weight. Pick one or two and start there. Add them to your daily routine. Let them settle in if they will. Then add another one or two. Build on it. These are Pointers that I have collected for myself I have used them to varying degrees and to the degree that I have continued to use any one of them, they are all good. They're all successful, and they all work. Pick the ones that interest you most in the beginning. Start using the ones that you like and/ or find interesting. Keep with it. After about 2 or 3 weeks, this practice will become a habit. Add habits to your habits. Slowly.’
What follows in twelve pages are 101 little alterations in your routine that can be changed to help you lose weight – things like ‘If you have a sitting job, stand up every half hour, Get seven or eight hours of sleep daily, Do not use food bars as meal substitutes, Snack on raw vegetables, Eat your meal(s) in front of a mirror, Make water your beverage of choice with meals, Throw out your “fat “ clothes, Reduce your plate size, Don’t eat standing up, Stop when your body has had enough, Add red pepper flakes to your larder and on and on.
These wise bits of advice are easy habits to form and that is why they work. Think, remember, do it enough times until it becomes natural and off goes the weight – easily! Excellent little book of ideas. Grady Harp, June 16
Some of the techniques I had heard of before but there's also new ones that could certainly be worth trying out. I am very interested in making a concerted effort in trying to do the breathing technique daily, it might not be an overnight kind of result but it's worth a try.
I do feel that some of the 101 tips were repeated but written differently and there was some editing that needed sorting out. But overall I'm sure some of these would help.
