While space shuttle astronauts have reportedly used Laughing Rabbit photon LED lights in their endeavors, the average consumer will quickly find that there's no need to go into orbit to find uses for one of these. The amount of illumination you get from this extremely compact and lightweight light is truly surprising-and it fits on your keychain. Weighing a mere 5-1/2 grams and small enough to disappear under a quarter, the Photon II gives you enough light for almost any task. The LED bulb is virtually unbreakable, yet is nonetheless covered by a manufacturer's lifetime guarantee. The replaceable lithium battery (included) gives you a total of about 12 to 14 hours of use. In addition, the Photon II comes with a slider on/off switch, which means you don't have to apply continuous pressure to the squeeze button to receive a continuous beam (unlike the original Photon Micro-Light). This is really a nifty little tool that you are guaranteed to appreciate the next time you find yourself in the dark.

I bought these knowing that they were cheap, and was not expecting them to be an ultra-performer in the keychain flashlight genre, BUT...a few of them did not work at all upon arrival, and the rest of them did not last long at all. You have to keep pushing the little button down to have them continue shining (which was fine to me, since my kids have a bad habit of leaving flashlight buttons on and draining the batteries as aforementioned), but the light itself did not last longer than 1, MAYBE 2 minutes for each of them. Then they die. Forever. (At which point, my kids promptly throw them out and run straight back to my flashlights. Argh.)
If the little lights lasted a bit longer, I would say they would be a very inexpensive and possibly handy little gadget to have around on your key chains. That said, when I am looking at something in a pinch that requires a small flashlight or extra lighting, many times it will be longer than 60 seconds. Or, in the alternative, I would at least expect a second use out of them. Not with my batch.
I gave this 2 stars because, when they ARE lit for the super short amount of time they work, they provide a decent amount of light considering how little they are. It is too bad they simply don't last a little bit longer for any real use (kids or emergencies or otherwise).
BTW...there's only a small raised area that when pressed will turn on the light. You have to keep the pressure on it to keep the light on. The beam is extremely week and unless you're using it for say a bit of costume jewelry or letting your 2yr old have something to play with, it's really not worth the time or money. In fact, this is the kind of quality you'd find at the dollar store. Only he bought this whole bag and will charge you a dollar for 2 of them. Good luck!
This is my second Photon micro light; the first one lasted 2-3 years before it started to fade. I tried replacing the batteries, but couldn't get it back together properly. When I got the new Photon II, it included written instructions for replacing the batteries. I tried again with the new instructions on my old Photon II, but still couldn't get it back together right -- the light stayed on and could not be switched off.
I'm giving it just 4 stars for the difficulty in replacing batteries. It otherwise deserves 5 stars. When the new one dies, I'll just buy another.
For those of you who got a fake, did you buy it from another seller listed on the Amazon site? Please update your reviews with that info if that's the case. Your order history should give you the details.
Battery life span is good and still is bright even with batteries starting to run down a bit. BUY EXTRA BATTERIES!!! Keep at least 4 on hand and a small (micro) phillips head screwdriver..... You won't be sorry. Very useful.
1 Year later: I don't know how humanity survived so long without these little lights. I have at least one on my person EVERY time I step out the door, EVEN in daylight! I wont trouble you with all the occasions I have had to use these things, but they are endless. One is on a paracord lanyard around my neck, one on my keys, one on a short leash in my front change pocket.... Nothing more to add. If you ain't got one yer an 'id-jit' (jus kiddin').
SUGGESTION FOR THE MANUFACTURER- make the quality better and you can even double the price :) It just a waste of time to make these and coz just fall apart.
