Ideal for clearing debris on a variety of hard surfaces including patios, driveways, sidewalks, decks, and garages, the Black & Decker LSW120 cordless sweeper is perfect for blowing away leaves, grass clippings, and other lawn debris. You'll get air speeds up to 120 MPH, and it operates at a 66 dBA noise level--lower than found many other sweepers or blowers, and far more pleasant to your neighbors' ears (as well as your own). Weighing just 3.8 pounds, it's easy to handle and won't twist the wrist.
This sweeper is powered by a 20-volt MAX lithium-ion battery that offers a longer lifespan and retains its charge 5x longer than similar 18-volt NiCad batteries--and you won't be limited by an extension cord. It's compatible with the full line of Black & Decker's 20-volt MAX line of power and gardening tools. Since there are no cords to worry about, you're free to reach the remote corners of your property without needing to search for an available outlet. And there's no messy up-keep found with blowers that use gas and oil, and zero emissions to harm the environment.
The included Energy Star-qualified charger will charge a fully depleted battery in about 8 hours. You can also swap the battery among your other Black & Decker cordless lawn tools that are compatible with 20-volt MAX lithium-ion batteries. It's backed by a two-year limited warranty. Not recommended for use in the grass or flower beds.

Used continuously, the battery started loosing steam after 5½ minutes and quit abruptly after 8½ minutes. Used intermittently (2 minutes on 1 minute off), battery life was about the same. Expect batteries to loose capacity as they age. Black & Decker recommends that you charge the battery immediately after use and not leave it stored in a state of discharge. That's not usually the rule for lithium-ion batteries. Black & Decker says it's safe to just store the battery on the charger. Charging takes just under 8 hours.
The charger maybe slow, but it has extra features to make charging gentle on the battery. If the battery is too hot or cold, the charger delays charging until the battery temperature is within normal range. After my battery life tests, the charger imposed a 15 minute cool down period before starting the charge cycle.
Unfortunately, the charger isn't wall mountable. Also, Black & Decker says the pack may be charged between the temperatures of 40° and 105°, but it is best to charge between 60° and 80°. So if you want the best battery life, you'll need to devote space on a tabletop inside your home.
The Black & Decker leaf blower is light and easy to take apart for storage. It's relatively quiet and especially easy to maneuver with no cord. If you are looking to handle smaller jobs, It's a good deal.
So I decided to get a cordless blower. Since I already have a B&D li-on 20V weed wacker (which works fairly well ) I decided to buy this item because the batteries are interchangeable.
Was excited when it came the next day (with 2day prime shipping) Amazon is always the best with shipping. I used it right away as I already had the battery for the weed wacker fully charged from the day before. Loved the freedom of just being able to walk anywhere I wanted without having to lug the extension cord. Immediately felt the lack of power. It blows VERY weak compared to the cable blower it replaced. The other bad thing about it was that the battery didn't last very long. It was about 10min continuous use before it just shut off on it's own. At least with Li-on it blows the same until it finally quits. With Ni-Cad it would lose more and more power until it finally died. I was dissapointed though as I though Li-on was a step up from Ni-Cad. Wasn't impressed with the paultry usage time.
So thinking this cannot be because my weed wacker lasts much longer than this with the same battery. Maybe it was because I was using the old weed wacker battery. So I charged up the new battery that came up with the blower. The next day I used it and lo and behold it died about the same time, 10 min.
I gave the item only two stars because it's very weak and the batteries really don't last.Read more ›
