This plush mattress is all about plush comfort. At the surface, a 1 inch layer of bamboo charcoal infused memory foam is quilted into the cover. Bamboo charcoal is especially good for sensitive skin and has improved thermal regulation. Beneath the top layer is a 3 inch layer of ventilated, gel infused memory foam. This layer helps improve breathability and temperature for a more comfortable sleep climate. Beneath the comfort layers, this mattress has a 10 inch high density foam base for excellent support.
The top memory foam layers contour to your natural curves during the night and add plushness to the surface. The memory foam also helps to isolate motion transfer between sleeping partners.
All LUCID memory foam is created using open cell technology. This prevents lasting body impressions and creates a more durable foam.
Soft, Breathable Cover
Made of a cozy TENCEL blend fabric (10 percent TENCEL lyocell, 90 percent polyester), the soft cover creates a breathable air layer at the top of the mattress.
Conveniently Shipped for Easy Set Up
After your new mattress arrives, simply take the package into the right room, remove it from the box and protective wrap, and watch as it expands.

OK, lets start from the TOP
Ordering- Again this took me reading hundreds of reviews, watching Youtube reviews and finally a half a bottle of wine to complete.
Waiting- Being a Prime member has it's perks. I ordered this on a Thursday night (after said wine) and it was delivered Monday.
Delivery- Let's just say, my FedEx guy probably hates me. This box was not light and since I am a woman with absolutely no upper body strength, I was in the way, more than I was help for this guy. Arrived, and the box was a mess. I wouldn't lie. It had a huge hole on the side, the mattress was fully exposed, however, my gift from the heavens was safe in it's Plastic wrap. I was not too concerned.
Set up- After I put my new bed together (more than one time, hahaha), I was ready....
This is where things get interesting.....
The box weighs more than I do, I looked at this for about 30 minutes and enjoyed more wine. Finally, I thought, I can do this. I was praying my neighbors could not see or hear me from my room because I am sure they would have thought I was being attacked or needed life alert!
I call in my 2 boys, (they are 7 and 9 what was I thinking) well (like I was with the FedEx man) they were only under my feet and not helping in the slightest. So, I kicked them out of the room. Probably a good 30 minutes later and the completion of the wine, the mattress was on. Lucid provided me with an letter opener to get the plastic wrap off. This is where you need to be super fast yet careful, as holding a newborn baby. You need to slice that off and pull the plastic wrap off before that thing inflates. I was in a panic. I managed to get all of the plastic wrap off and thought, I really wish I could just lay on that thing....
Waiting- Lucid states on the package... "Could take up to 48 hours for mattress to come to accurate size!" I completed dinner and walked back and forth with a tape measure to check. Mine only took about 3 hours to be a full 14inches.
Sleeping- OHHHHH MYYYYYY WORD!!!!! The struggle to purchase and all of the things that come after and right before you finally sleep on this mattress is worth the wait.
I have literally become one with the mattress, It has taken me as it's own. There is nothing better than this Mattress. I know I need my job but let me tell you, getting out of bed is devastating every single time. I have a lot of back and leg issues due to a medical condition and I have not had a Great nights rest in YEARS. The first night, I slept so well. I didn't want that to be my review because of all the work I did the night before I didn't want people thinking because I exerted all my energy and my body was tired. I have slept so well and woken in the morning with NO pain. It is the Perfect combination of Plush and support. Every single night I have slept great. I don't feel my husband getting in and out and tossing and turning all night. I don't even realize when he gets in and out of this bed.
There is one issue, if you are a man, sleeping on your stomach will be great. Woman, let me tell you, if you are a stomach sleeper, it takes the mattress a few minutes to conform to your "girls"! Side and back sleepers will love this mattress.
I only wish that I had an office chair that was like my mattress. All joking aside Lucid really needs to think about this. I have tons of neck and back pain at work being on a computer all day and NOT one chair has helped. I would drag that mattress around with me everywhere if I could and only WISH I had a chair that was as heavenly as my mattress.
Cons- As listed, it is Heavy, so be smarter than me and get someone to help you. Don't try being Superwoman (like me). Second con, (is really not much of a con) you will not want to leave your bed. Last Con- Lucid doesn't have a chair for me or a cover for my chair. LOL
BUT -- he's always convinced that he knows everything. BOO.
He put his infinite wisdom toward the subject of mattresses. We had just purchased our first house, and in doing so decided to upgrade to a king-sized bed. We knew we wanted memory foam, but I was convinced that I wanted one of the big-name mattress sets, and I was not budging on it.
Now, I love sleep. I'm kind of an expert at it, and thus assumed that I knew what kind of things people should sleep on. I KNOW STUFF TOO, MAN. More money = better sleep, right?
This guy put his typical engineer approach into painstakingly long research: trying some mattresses out in different stores, researching mattresses online, etc. I'm pretty sure he even had an Excel spreadsheet for something. He kept coming back to this one, though. He was stoked to see that this one was so highly rated and affordable. He decided that we were getting it, but I wasn't convinced.
Me: "A shrink-wrapped mattress?! Nope. Sounds too weird."
Him: "Um, actually it's amazing and you don't even know."
Me: "You don't buy mattresses online. It's WEIRD."
Him: "You work in web dev! YOU LIVE IN THE INTERNET. It's NOT weird."
Me: "SUPER WEIRD."
Him: "Trust me, I'm an engineer."
Me: "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ENGINEERING."
Him: "SO! Seriously, we need this."
We were getting the keys to the house that day, and had quite a lot of moving, painting, etc ahead of us. So, we decided to look at some mattresses together after things slowed down to figure out what we both wanted.
Fast forward a week. I'm rolling up to the house after work. There is a massive box on our front porch.
Me: "Uh, so... someone shipped a human-sized thing to our house and I'm not opening it."
Him: "Oh, the mattress is here!"
Me: "...I WILL END YOU."
Hubs got home and laid the mattress out on the box spring (which he got from Amazon as well). Then, the "breathing" commenced. We stepped out for a few hours to grab dinner to let it poof up. Once we got home, I approached the offending beast of a mattress.
Me: "If this thing sucks, I'm punching you right in the ear."
Him: "I bet you $100 that you are gonna apologize to me in one minute."
And so, I sat on the bed and laid back. I'm not entirely certain of what happened next, but I'm pretty sure I saw Jesus. It was... AWESOME. It's fluffy, but so supportive. It was like being wrapped up in a hug by the Snuggle bear. I think he's spending the $100 on some "HA, I TOLD YOU SO" stickers to put all over my stuff.
Now, people here have mentioned the "smell." I have to say, as annoyed as I was when he was unwrapping this thing, I would have immediately pounced upon the opportunity to point out any offending stench. But, we slept on it about three hours after he had laid it out, and I didn't notice any smell at all.
We've been using this bed for a few days now, and I can honestly say that it's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. I've been so sore from moving, painting, and unpacking, but I've been waking up feeling refreshed. I'll update this review after I've tried the bed for a few months, but I'm pretty sure that this cloud-like pad of awesomeness is going to keep its five-star rating.
And yes, husband. I was totally wrong. Buying mattresses online is an awesome idea. You can't beat the price, and this is way more comfortable than any bed we tried out in stores. The "trust me, I'm an engineer" argument isn't always valid, but I'll throw you a bone on this one. The dude knew what he was talking about.
BUT I STILL KNOW STUFF, TOO.
UPDATE TIME: So, it's October 22, 2015. We've been using this thing for, oh... a year? Something? I'm bad with dates.
ANYWAY... It's still awesome. Seriously, this is the best bed I've ever had. And I sleep a LOT, so my opinion is way valid.
The bed still feels just as comfortable as the first time we used it. We haven't noticed any strange people-shaped indents.
Bonus for people with pets? My cats, who aren't declawed, race across this thing daily and dig their dumb nails into it as they charge across. But, we haven't noticed any rips or tears... which I'm certain is straight-up black magic.
Get this and wait for it to get cold outside. THEN PUT A HEATING BLANKET ON IT. Holy mother of tacos, it's the best.
I'm trying to figure out a way to go about my day while in this bed. People of Lucid - please encourage my laziness and make this into a desk chair cushion. I needs it.
Sounds like a bit of a downgrade right? WRONG! We live in AZ and it is hot, hot, hot in the summer making it hard to sleep especially on the tempurpedic which is so comfy but retains heat really badly. Something had to change this year so we took a risk on this Lucid thing. If you would have told me it was a tempurpedic I have believed you except for the fact that yesterday was 111 degrees and I actually slept with a light cover (AC running as usual). This is not normal! I typically have to get up in the middle of the night because I am burning up. This bed retains less than 1/2 the heat, if not more, than a tempurpedic. That was enough to keep me down for the night. It was a little on the firm side but I think it's because it's new and it needs to break in a little. Despite the slight firmness (compared to my tempurpedic) it hugs the body nicely giving in at the right pressure points. This bed saved me $4000-5000 I had been willing to drop on a new tempurpedic with cooling technology. So, the Lucid left me with $3000-4000, I used $1000 on a cruise. Still have $2000 left over and I have a big new bed that is totally amazing! I can't believe this bed came in a box! Disruptive innovation at its best!!! Way to go Lucid.
