Having read only NVSQVAM and The Talkative Corpse, I was surprised by the *completely other head* of Mz Sterzinger’s latest production, the first in a series apparently. LYFE struck me first at the level of pure TALE. In that regard, it's truly fantastic - think J. Fowles’ The Magus, D. Tartt’s Secret History, P.J. Farmer’s Image of the Beast, D. Danvers’ The Watch - but unlike those examples the WRITING is, line by line, extraordinary. It is the sort of Science Fiction that's as tactile as the gearshift in your hand, as *there* as the view through the windscreen .. and echoes more of Balzac - or the 10th Duino Elegy - than Philip K. Dick. Ann Sterzinger brings surprise, heartbreak, and a sense of humor blacker than a priest's socks. LYFE is a *relentless* production that will leave you anxious an' pacing for the next delivery.

This is an excellent science fiction story about a 3rd generation mortal living on the moon of Earth II with the immortals. But don't mistake "excellent" for fun or exciting. (Although this is a VERY creative story!) It is a story of struggle and sadness for Elektra: bad job, dysfunctional family, addiction and love lost. The moon has a caste system and a secret government. The government will kill those who violate the laws - the laws they decide without input from the masses. The mortals are the immigrants on the moon, and they've introduced over-population. And you see all this through Elektra's eyes.

Well written. I look forward to Book 2!

(And the publishers who had a chance to publish this book blew it.)

The milieu of Earth Two and the City of Heaven, with their mix of seedy bars and nobility soirees, working-class striving and upper-class disdain and truth and secrets interweaving in a utopia that is nine parts chicanery to one part heart. And Elektra has heart to burn. Don't miss LYFE, and the novels to come.
