Decent clock, not-so-decent lighting
on May 23, 2012
As mentioned by others, I'm glad that this clock had separate batteries for the clock and the back lighting. The problem I encountered was that the sensor to trigger the backlight needs near absolute darkness to actually turn the light on. This essentially resulted in the backlight functioning only when I went to bed and was not using the room at all. Even though I was hoping to be able to see the clock when watching TV in an otherwise completely dark room, just the glow of the TV backlight was enough to prevent it from functioning.
To add to the problem, the hands are mostly transparent to facilitate the light function, making them somewhat tough to read even in the day.
Overall, I'd rather just have a normal clock with high contrast hands that I can read *most* of the time than this thing.
