Product Failed to work,But got good customer service so far

Bought this product to keep an eye on outdoor as well as indoor temps.Initially worked fine for a day ,Outdoor transmitter seemed not to function anymore.i called customer service ,Did'nt wait long at all for tech help .Tested ,I got a professional rep on the phone she instructed me on how to trouble shoot,I tested batteries with multimeter batteries were low on voltage ,I replaced with brand new batteries (still did not work),The tech rep said she is sending me a new transmitter for the thermometer.She said I would have to wait 15 days to recieve it.Just seems like too much trouble and wasted time, trouble shooting the product that costed under 30 bux.I guess it's my new hobby now,To see if this Lacrosse product will finally work,Let The buyer beaware !

UPDATE !!! Ok ,well customer service said I'd have to wait 5 weeks for the replacement outdoor transmitter,But it arrived 2 days later ,I synced it with the unit ,And now it's working great and it's accurate as well .So ,I'd have to say the customer service is impressive

Quit working shortly after we purchased it

This product quit working not long after we got it. Within days it no longer received the signal from outside, but that doesn't stop it from showing what it thinks is the temperature outside. 65 degrees in the dead of winter? doubful. I replaced the batteries, reset it, kept it inside, and it worked for a bit, then i set it outside again, not in the rain, not even in the elements, and initially again it gave the correct temperature. But 2 days later,, it failed.

This is an excellent instriment that was easy to set up but be sure to read the instructions on installing the batteries in both the station and the sending unit. It is correct with my other thermometers on outside and inside. the price was very inexpensive from Amazon.

One day after this review the sending unit from outside quit. After several tries with new batteries, I decided to return the unit. With the easy return, I got the return lable and before I could wrap the item, I got an email that a new one was being shipped and will be here in two days. I call this excellent service! Thanks Amazon!

I do question weather the sending unit is water proof for out side use.

My second wireless temperture station came in 1 1/2 days from Amazon. ( I don't know how they do this so fast) I installed the batteries as instructed and it worked. However, it rained on the sending unit on the second day and it quit. However, this time I dried it off and replaced the bateries as before. It cam back on and is now working. I am going to reinstall it on a porch where it will not get wet. I did Email the LaCross folks but it not get a reply on waterprof the sending unit.
My advice is don't let it get wet. My daughter had the same trouble and dried the sending unit and hers slso now works.

My advice is to place the sending unit where it will not get wet.

Very Handy Gadget!!

Actually, I'd give this unit 4.5 stars if I could. It is a quality product that is SUPER simple to operate. I had it setup in 2 minutes including setting the sensor outside on the back fence. The display unit sits in our kitchen window sill and makes it extremely easy to get accurate temp readings before sending the kids off to school.

Only two things prevent this unit from getting 5 stars. One, it is fairly accurate but not extremely accurate. It's off a few degrees from our other weather station which has coincided with our local weather report for years. Two, I wish it automatically reset high/low readings every 24 hours instead of having to hit the button. But given how inexpensive it is, I really shouldn't complain.

It has a basic aesthetic appeal; it is small and unobtrusive and the display is just large enough to be easy to read at a moderate distance. And, it uses standard AA batteries in the main unit & AAA batts in the remote. No weird watch batteries that are hard to replace like the unit this one replaces.

Overall, I am very pleased!

Waste of money

No matter where we put the outdoor sensor, it registers too high (when it register at all, that is). We put it in a place that is always in the shade and is not near metal or anything else that would get very hot. Whenever it rains, the outside temperature doesn't display. Whenever the outside temperature is below 54 degrees, it doesn't display. When the temperature is 90 to 100 degrees, it says it is 115 to 120 outside. We know the temperature inside the house (because the thermostat is always set at 74 degrees), so we only got this to use for the temperature outside, but since it either doesn't display at all or it's wrong, there is really no point in having it. It also goes through batteries way too fast. We had this same type of device by LaCrosse in Colorado and it worked fine for a while, but quit working. I don't think I will waste my money on this brand again.

ZERO STARS - Total Piece of GARBAGE! Both Of Them! And a huge waste of my time

Wasted my time with this piece of crap. I'd give ZERO STARS First one came in would not connect to the unit. I shipped it back and received a replacement. The second one came in and same thing - no outdoor reading/connection with the unit. You can only try so many times. All you can do is remove and replace the batteries over and over again. I even turned off the wi-fi to eliminate that as a possible interference. Didn't matter. YES - I TOO THOUGHT I WOULD BE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES AND RECEIVE A GOOD WORKING UNIT...BUT NO. I wasted so much time on this piece of garbage it makes me sick. In my opinion, I believe La Crosse is knowingly selling defective units on line hoping that some will work and the others that do not, those people will not waste their energy sending bck for a refund. After years of buying products from Amazon, this is the worst experience I have ever had. Thank God Amazon supports its customers with a solid return policy. BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT BUY!
