Brooke is a real surprise too and this is a very hot and thoughtful book!
Derrick LaClaire is an adrenaline junkie. The youngest LaClaire brother will do anything and travel anywhere for that high, the one that helps him forget the nightmares of his life. When he meets Ruby, he becomes obsessed with having the girl who ran away in the night and comes back to get his fill, but things will take and unexpected turn when she calls out his name…
When their worlds collide and Derrick desperately wants to know why she disappeared and took that path, Brooke will have to confront the demons from her past and unearth secrets she’d rather keep hidden.
This is a story about a second chance with a big twist. Short and fast paced, but a little over the top for my taste. I totally understood Brooke’s character and her backstory, but can’t say the same for Derrick and his attitude about life and the consequences of your actions.
IMO, the book was okay and easy to read, just not my style plot wise.

I found LaClaire Touch to be a unique story - the male lead discovers that the prostitute he's mildly obsessed with is actually is high school sweetheart. I think that the magic in this story (for me at least) was how much sympathy I felt for Brooke/Ruby and her plight. I struggled with liking Derrick, which surprised me because I liked him ok when we met him in LaClaire Nights, but he grew on me eventually. I was shocked (in the best possible way) by a plot twist LATE in the game - but I wish more time had been spent on developing it and resolving it. It was sort of major and it popped up and then just faded that quickly but it had such potential to expand the story. I give the book 3 out of 5 wine glasses and plan on continuing the series to see the rest of the LaClaire boys fall in love.
