Boston-based Reveille (pronounced REV-uh-lee) is a 5-piece who formed in 1997 and released an EP that gathered tremendous regional airplay in the northeast (selling out 2 complete pressings). Reveille's punches connect with brutal intensity, living up to the bugle-blowing wake-up call for which the band in named. Famous fans who helped out on Laced include Cypress Hill's B Real (on the track "Splitt") and horror-meister Clive Barker (album artwork). 1st single: "Flesh And Blood." Butterfly-The best song i love it so much it's crazy the best song in the world. Perfecr World-still awsome i think the guitar excells here very well. Permanent-Awsome!! this song was played on the radio and had a music video but never really made it to far but it's an incredible song. The Pheonix- was the second song released here superb and great meaningful lyrics. Untied-niceness!!!! another favorite of mine excellent guitar and the vocals flow well. Rise and Blind-i don't really like this that much except fot the guitar into and screaming. Judas-second Favorite Song on here just awsome guitar and the best outro ever in a song. Flesh And Blood- not bad but not the best but still a classic reveille track. Feel-Kick a$$ track but the ending is thre best Aftertaste- Third Favorite slower but still awsome and excelent lyrics. Split- the colaboration with b-real from cypress hill is ok but reveille is much too hard for b-real to keep up with. But still it's really good Dark Horizons-Fouth Favorite this is still awsome although it stars off slow but it gets better for the ultimate ending if u wanna here it buy the cd now!
If i left out a track....
I am from the Boston, so is Reveille, so when I heard about them I decided to support local music and give them a listen. I was blown away by the music as well as the singing (and screaming). What came to me as the biggest surprise was that they were only 16-19 years old when they recorded "Laced". In my opinion, this CD was better than any Deftones or Rage Against the Machine CD.
The CD goes strong from the beginning song "Butterfly" to the end song "Dark Horizons" The anger in the voice of Drew Simollardes really adds to the blaring guitars of Steve Miloszewski and Greg Sullivan. The bass parts, played by Carl Randolph, in songs like "Butterfly" and "Perfect World" are examples that bass players from bands that are really terrible (ex. Limp Bizkit, bass player Sam Rivers,) should take after. The drum fills in the 12 songs on the CD are amazing and, me being a drummer myself, enjoy playing them on my drum set.
My favorite songs on the CD are "Butterfly", "Rise And Blind", and "Feel". But, all the songs on the CD are great. The mixture of metal and rap is a perfect example of how nu-metal should sound these days, not like Limp Bizkit or Korn.
Now, I have talked to my friends about Reveille and most of my friends have not heard of them. I gave them a listen to " Laced" and they are all going out to buy it. They are definately a band people should be looking out for, because Limp Bizkit and Korn will not last too much longer and that's when true bands like Reveille will be standing strong.
To conclude, Reveille's CD "Laced" is a must-buy. "Laced" is my favoreite CD of all time. If you are into Rage Against the Machine and Deftones, pick up "Laced". And although they don't get a lot of air-play, they deserve to be on MTV more than Limp Bizkit or Korn.
