The author did a great job of making me adore Kyle McClintock, our cowboy/actor/hero, and loathe his personal assistant. Lacy's two best friends add a fun amount of wit and drama, and really you can't help but like them. I'm rather fond of EmmyLou because she likes to bake, and Scarlett is a sweetheart who grows flowers and puts them in salads.
The relationship between Kyle and Lacy needs a little help, and you're right there as they both learn how to forgive, appreciate, and accept each other for who they've become. Fair warning--there's a super sizzling love scene that I imagine many will find hot and romantic. Though these types of scenes aren't my cup of tea, the author did a great job with it.
If you like stories of cowboys and country girls, this would be a fun summer read.
Content note: There is a strong graphic love scene and a few innuendos. I don't recall much in the way of language, so if it was there, it wasn't enough for me to really notice
lol... If they were real people no way would they make a good couple, I didn't feel they had a connection other then they had a past. A past that Kyle wants to forget and start fresh and Lacy lives in the past. Sorry I just didn't feel it for them as a couple and Lacy's temper towards Kyle made no since because she never told him the truth, I guess that he was supposed to read her mind. I don't feel her "temper" was written very well.
I laughed out loud when the three girls got together. Together the three had personality and the author wrote their friendship well. They had connection.
I like books where the characters talk to each other, have a conversation not books that describe every rock, tree, leaf and pot hole in the ruff road. The book does have a bit to much day dreaming but I guess that was how the author wanted to tell the story.
One of the things I loved most about this book was Lacy's friendship with Emmylou and Scarlet. They have that deep, known each other since kindergarten kind of friendship. I loved how understanding they were and how they were ready to back each other up no matter what the situation was. And they had me cracking up on more than one occasion throughout the entire novel. One of my favorite scenes with the three of them is when they are all sitting on the front porch right after Lacy gets back from the pond with Kyle. I would LOVE to give you spoilers...but I won't. I'll just tell you that Emmylou is hilarious and she had me laughing out loud (earning me the "are you crazy" look from my hubby). Those characters were so well written and I can't wait for their stories to come out!
Now let's talk about the other thing I loved about this novel--Kyle McClintock. Oh Kyle. I just loved him. And I loved how determined he was to patch things over with Lacy. More than once I found myself saying, "Oh come on, Lacy! Just give in to the man already!" But I understand where she was coming from and why she did what she did. The two of them together also had me cracking up and Kyle even earned a few "Awww's" from me.
If you enjoy reading romances with that are fun, sweet, sexy, and have a little suspense/action then you should definitely check this one out!
With her two best friends, an ex-husband, Kyle's uppity, rigid secretary and a demanding director, Lacy's temper and old-fashioned heart will keep you entertained through the action-packed ending.
