I recently saw Most Precious Blood in concert and I bought this CD. I'm glad that I did. Guitarist Rachel and vocalist Rob signed it. Speaking of whom, Rob Fusco, formerly of One King Down, replaced former vocalist Tom Sheehan sometime after 2001's "Nothing In Vain" was released. Their vocal styles are very different, but I personally perfer Rob's vocal sound. This album's cover art depicting the virgin Mary with dynamite strapped around her stomach was very controversial. After meeting with R.E.D., Trustkill Records' distribution company, and refusing to change the cover art, the band was allowed to keep it as is but a sticker would be put on the shrinkwrapping at WalMart. Inside the CD case, along with the booklet there was a Trustkill Records insert, a petfinder.com insert, and a peta2.com insert.
The album opens with the explosive first single, "The Great Red Shift". It ends with the standout lyrics "Don't lie to me and say you'd die for me. What would you die for?" The track entitled "Your Picture Hung Itself" has a melodic chorus that goes "The more time passes by, the more I realize, you and I Were just a lie". This song also demonstrates Rachel and Justin's guitar chemistry. "So Typical My Heart" features legendary Sick Of It All's Lou Koller on vocals. The chorus contains the standout lyrics "No need to cut me open, I died of a broken heart". This album, just like "Nothing In Vain", has a total of ninety-nine tracks. There are eleven musical tracks, followed by thirty-seven tracks of four second silence. After that, there are a bunch of tracks where the band are talking and such. Some of these are rather funny.

Well, I just bought the record and honestly, I think it's a great hardcore album. I am a hardcore fan ( Shai Hulud, Eighteen Visisons, Throwdown ) and this is one of the only records that I can sit down and actually listen to all the way through. The singer just puts so much passion in his singing and it's more than a hardcore album; it's a great buy.

I saw this band live a couple years ago and thought they were cool, but I didn't plan on checking out any albums or seeing them again. Didn't that change?!?....This album is great. A new singer, a stronger album, (and a f***in cool album cover, and that's comin from a catholic, albeit a somewhat confused one). Buy it, Burn it, Get it in ya.

MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD - Our Lady of Annihilation
-
I had this CD for about a year and I still really can't get into it. Upon hearing "The Great Red Shift" and "Your Picture Hung Itself" I was quite impressed and picked up the album. Sadly there are only a few real gems... The band has a lot of potential but this album is lacking...
One, It is too short! Truthfully I don't mind short albums - but they have to be fulfilling. (i.e. Hot Damn!! - By Every Time I Die) This album however, just didn't satisfy.
Two, Production is too muddy for my taste....
Three, Musically they can suffice, but lets be honest, unless their packing some talent I haven't heard yet heard, they really don't stand out musically.
I'm still looking forward to hearing their new album, which just came out. Hopefully they have improved on what they were aiming for.

Not that great of a CD. I thought it would be pretty decent, as most trustkill bands are, but I wasnt a big fan. It was really cheap and in fact I only paid a penny for the disc plus shipping, which is why i went ahead and bought it. the end of the CD is a long session of the band members talking about random stupid things.

I've been a big fan of MPB for awhile now, and it only felt right to give one of my favorite albums a review.
Our Lady of Annihiliation has a great sound. There isn't a song on here that I don't like listening to. It's aggressive, in-your-face hardcore. Great messages exist throughout the album, a song that shows this is "It Runs In The Blood."

If you liked Nothing In Vain, you will more than likely love this album. I actually think despite it being slightly more polished than Nothing In Vain, it sounds stronger and more powerful.

I also like the hidden tracks with the radio interviews/band questions/etc., they even do a grindcore bit at the very end with Rob's and Rachel's pit bulls as vocals. It's humorously good.

My four favorite tracks: The Great Red Shift, Collusionist, Your Picture Hung Itself, It Runs In The Blood

On first few listens to this record, i heard nothing spectacular, just an peculiar vocal style over the standard, down-tuned heaviness of modern hardcore.

After a few more spins, i realized the subtle harmonies underneath all the heaviness. And that is my favorite thing about this record, no other hardcore band attempts such a masking of melodic parts.

However i dont think you can appreciate that until after a few listens. Otherwise its still a pretty powerful heavy record. Slightly overproduced though.
