Through all of this Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy are enjoying themselves and staying away from the anger of Mrs. Bennet at Longbourn. It appeared at the end of this book that they we leaving shortly for Pemberley. Charles and Jane are progressing nicely.
Richard and Lord Tensley have taken care of Anne for the moment. So peace reigns for now.
Darcy and Elizabeth has been married a fortnight when lady Catherine visits Netherfield with the intent of breaking them apart. Anne Dr Bourgh, who is uncertain if her mother will succeed, makes plans of her own and they are vile. Adding Mr Collins to the mix thickens the plot...
Heartily recommend and will definitely buy the next in this series.
The villains were too evil without seeming to put me in suspense on what they were going to do next. No angst. The good guys were too good and had no trouble dealing with problems.
I didn't feel any of the emotions. The hate, the love, the empathy, none of them seemed real.
The story and the people in it seemed like came from a bad comic book. Or a summer replacement tv show.
And at the very end we were warned that Miss Bingley would be the main protagonist in the next book. When I read that and thought it will be another bad guy acting insane in a predictable way, yawn. The series seems like a bad movie serial the Batman or Flash Gordon serials of so long ago.
I usually love this author but I can't really recommend this book. It "felt" to me like this was thrown together knowing that P&P variation readers will buy anything from a favorite author.
This wasn’t so much a story about Darcy and Elizabeth as it was about Rosings, Lady Catherine, Anne de Bourgh, and Mr. Collins. D&E were there but it wasn’t really about them. This was a window of time and that made it feel chunky, short and left us hanging. That means we have to buy the next installment in order to find out what is going on.
I couldn't even think of a quote... I keep asking myself... what???
1st Star - Helped pass time and some laughs,
2nd Star - Good flow (story-telling) and a decent pace,
3rd Star - Well balanced story-telling, kept to the original characters (for the most part),
4th Star - Fun, and funny, serious, and sweet,
5th Star - Great continuation from her first of the series. Is it a tad short? maybe... but still - respectable for my two cents.
Long Description: From the first book - One of Zoe's better works thus far. I enjoyed her "Darcy Deal" and the "Promises" 2 book series. This series is light, sweet, a tad sour, but everything nice. Downside, a tad fast paced or maybe short; but it's not really that much of a downside either. Real cliff-hangers she left us at the end of each so far... and very enticing. Each book can be read on it's own too which is nice. BUT! the cliff-hangers... 3rd book NOW!!! nownownownownownow!!!! Get it done! NOW! please. *heh* thanks for the story-telling and hope the rude "now" statements is encouragement enough as well as a testament to how excellent this series is.
