Having said that, I prefer a more cerebral novel that makes me really think; is more visceral, and on the darker side. Thornhill's novels are a breath of fresh air between those dark places. The Lady Justice Series is a great way to clense the 'cerebral palate' before delving back into the darkness.
The premise sounded good but the book just wasn't as expected.
The caliber of writing was mediocre, at best. The plot was just not there. There seemed to be no point, no cohesion, just random juvenile content. I think where I quit was the scene of the neighbor's (sorry - can't even recall his name) shall we say (trying to avoid the censors) excessive blood pressure below the belt due to ingesting a pill. Why was that even there? it contributed NOTHING. It was just crude & unnecessary. I don't care for crude "humor". (Like how little children laugh about bodily functions.) There was another scene where the main character had to disrobe for a physical. There was plenty of description and dwelling on things that just did not have anything to do with a senior citizen wanting to help out Lady Justice.
Sadly, I had collected quite a bit of this series before reading any & now that appears to have been a huge waste.
"I guarantee, after reading Lady Justice Takes a C.R.A.P., you will come away with a new light-hearted perspective and respect for the triumphs and challenges of the Senior Set. "
Well, Mr. Thornhill, you didn't deliver. Now what?
Moving on to books more worthy of my time. Life's too short to waste on bad books.
The formatting is awful. There are no paragraph indents and it goes down hill from there. It is badly edited. Wrong words, missing words etc. Then there is the word that are run together. Words with spaces between letters and more.
If I had read this first it is doubtful I would have read another. I would have missed some very good books that way.
Thornhill writes the retirees well. I volunteer with some retirees, and they act just like Walt and the gang. The last few chapters were a bit odd...almost like the novel finished and then the author stuck a few novellas on the end. Good reads, just seemed awkward....but they're a bonus! I'd read more of Walt's exploits, though who knows how many he has left in him!
