Actual practitioners will be banging their heads against their desks as she does things no psychologist would ever do. Caught kissing her patient, she assures her boss that the patient was the aggressor (because that makes it OK) and caught in his room in the night, she responds with the ubiquitous "nothing happened!" And this was my favorite- she found a book about bipolar in the library and started reading it, and found it sooooo interesting because she didn't research it at all before starting treatment on the client!
But the real treat in this book is trying to figure out what a real person, one with a backbone, would have done given the situations described. The older brother starts the story so unbelievably unkind that no real person would have stayed to work for him. Then in the middle of the book, he makes a sudden turn around to hot and bothered and super nice, for no apparent reason. Then she loves him, but he might be a murderer. The final scene is so unbelievable I actually cracked up laughing.
It is entertaining and doesn't have too many typos. But really, it is mediocre romance and less than mediocre mystery. I don't think this author did even cursory research on what a psychology doctoral program is about or how one would go about such a job.
