About the Author
Historical romance author Samantha Grace discovered the appeal of a great love story when she was just a young girl, thanks to Disney's Robin Hood. She didn't care that Robin Hood and Maid Marian were cartoon animals. It was her first happily-ever-after experience and she didn't want the warm fuzzies to end. Now Samantha enjoys creating her own happy-endings for characters that spring from her imagination. Publisher's Weekly describes her stories as "fresh and romantic" with subtle humor and charm. Samantha describes romance writing as the best job ever.
Part-time medical social worker, moonlighting author, and pilates nut, she enjoys a happy and hectic life with her real life hero and two kids in the Midwest. Visit her at: samanthagraceauthor.com.

The only problem is that the prospective groom has come to ask her to withdraw from the contract and give him his freedom so that he may embark on an expedition to Antarctica.
Lucas Forest, the Duke of Foxhaven, wants out of this marriage. He doesn't want or need any responsibilities in his life, all he wants is his freedom to come and go as he pleases.
Yet Lucas feels before he can claim his freedom,he must secure another man willing to marry Lady Vivian so as that he can leave with a much clearer conscience,so he offers to take Lady Vivian along to his home where there is to be a party where she will be able to meet many eligible candidates for marriage.
The thing is though, that as Lucas spends more time with Vivian, he may be rethinking his hasty decision.
I liked the character of Lady Vivian very much, she was sweet and kindhearted and spunky to boot. Lucas seemed more staid, although very open-minded when it came to Vivian and their relationship.
I didn't like the conflict written into the story much, but I was happy with the ending.
Overall a good read. I might take a look at the other books in the series too.
Luke Forest, Duke of Foxhaven is a man with big shoes to fill. He isn't ready to face the reality and assume the responsibilities that are his birthright. He rather seek adventure away from England. Running and seeking adventure may help keep a secret from an accident that makes certain tasks hard to accomplish. Tasks that make taking full control of his birthright difficult.
Luke does not want to marry, especially a woman that his father has arranged to marry. However, he must meet his intended to discuss and break the contract. He goes to visit Vivian while she is at her cousins house and discovers that this vibrant young women may be all the adventure he needs. Both Luke and Vivian struggle with secrets and wanting to be enough for each other. Can these two trust their own instincts and hearts to have a life full of love and adventure?
I really enjoyed this book. Luke is the guy we want our daughters (my future daughter anyway) to marry. He encourages Vivian's bright inner star to shine and not be ashamed of it. Vivian gives Luke the courage to be the man he is always meant to be. It is a love match for the books. This happily ever after will have you laughing and as you turn the pages. Of course, every good story has a villain and Samantha Grace doesn't stop short there either! Did I mention this was book four in a series? You'll want to go back and read the first three as well. Luke's brother, Lord Andrew is just one of the characters you'll fall for.
Lady Vivian Defies a Duke is a quick and sweet read. It is the fourth book in Grace’s Beau Monde series, but it can be read on its own without feeling lost. Lady Vivian is vivacious and strong willed; she has a spark of life that sometimes is lacking in historical romance. Luke Forrest, the Duke of Foxhaven; who wants to avoid the duties that come with the title, including his betrothal to Lady Vivian. However the more he gets to know this charming lady the more he begins to want her. Their path to happiness is one that is paved with several pitfalls partially caused by Lady Vivian’s hoydenish ways. An old enemy of Luke’s also arrives on the scenes attempting to put a wedge between the two love birds.
Lady Vivian Defies a Duke is a wonderful read. It is an example of the very reason I fell in love with historical romance genre. The characters are great, they are fresh and fun and the romance is sweet without the new normal of page after page of steamy sex scenes. I would recommend Lady Vivian and all of the previous four Beau Monde books to anyone who is looking for that feel good historical romance.
