Lady White Eyes has earned the five-star treatment. The characters are fully realized individuals. Settings are intense and beautiful--sometimes scary-beautiful. Very strong use of language--no vague or clunky wording. Lady White Eyes invokes spectres of Niel Gaiman and Simon Green but never stoops to imitation. Marden's characters, settings and story remain uniquely his own, and this one is a steal for $2.99.
Terry Black and Ellen Gold have been sweethearts since elementary school, every now and then breaking up and getting back together. But Terry's connection with her is never broken. This time when she leaves him he cannot let the love go. But while his depression is taunting him, he is having wild and disturbing visions that will take us all on a journey into the unknown and beyond.
People are being slaughtered and Detective Madison is on a mission to find whoever it was that killed his partner. He discovers that he should be on the lookout for `whatever' it was and finds himself being led into a world he could never have imagined. When a suspicious car accident brings Terry Black and Detective Madison together get ready for fireworks!
This is one hell of a ride! Loved every minute of it.
Just be warned: there's sex and horror/gore involved which is quite explicit.
I highly recommend it to anyone prepared for an adventure into the unknown.
A truly wonderful book and a breath of fresh air for an independent book. This is the kind of book that hurls indie books into the running with top publishing houses. A must read for anyone who loves this genre. The read and story line is so intriguing and involving I became lost in the city within the book. The plot completely rivals everything else. The story itself gets 5 stars and the author gets a new fan.
