Kaira Rouda has a great start for a series. This was a great read I can't wait to read the next book.
Laguna Nights is book one in the Laguna Beach series and this story made me realize how happy I am being normal and not be surrounded my cameras all the time. Holly and Josh aren’t so lucky and when Hollywood wants to do a reality show, cameras are everywhere, ready to make them a star (Josh) or humiliate them (Holly).
Holly and Josh were each other’s first love, but Josh ruined it. He cheated on her with Laura. If that’s not bad enough, Holly’s heartache is on camera for everyone to see. Holly leaves Laguna Beach and changes her name to Madison, while Josh becomes a big star.
Josh and Madison get a second chance in this story, not sure if Josh deserves a second chance, but people mess up when they are young, and as the years went on, Holly (Madison) is still his only love. I didn’t fall in love with Josh, even at the end…but then again I’m not the forgiving type.
The book is well-written and easy to read. The descriptions in the story are vividly detailed to where I can picture what is going on and what things look like. That’s always a good thing to me. I really enjoyed the writing style and will definitely read more from this author.
Laguna Nights is a wonderful, fun read which I enjoyed very much. I immediately formed a connection with Madison, the responsible good girl who is trying to do the right things, back in her hometown. And I immediately didn't like Josh, the self-centered bad boy actor trying to make a comeback. I love it when an author can make me feel so strongly about their characters.
Josh comes back to town to film another show and so many feelings get brought to the surface again, feelings that Madison had hoped were long gone. But she was hurt so badly by Josh and that stupid reality show that she just wants this to all be over so Josh can leave again. And leave her alone.
She is finally forced into appearing on the show and that doesn't sit well for Josh. Through all this, so many emotions, hurt feelings, and maybe some regrets plague the two of them. Neither one of them trusts the other one. Can they work through all this baggage or do they just need to go their separate ways?
I loved my little trip to Laguna Beach and I want to go back. The next book in the Laguna Beach Series is Laguna Heights, featuring Madison's best friend Annie. It will be great to find out more about her. I can't wait!
Josh was known as the heart throb of Laguna Nights. But now that his two minutes of fame is over, he’s doing everything he can to keep his star shining bright. When he gets offered to host a travel show, he jumps at the opportunity. But it’s when he finds out that the first location will be at his hometown of Laguna Beach that mixed emotions arise. And, out of all of the places to shoot the first episode, it ends up being at the same resort that his ex, Holly (who now goes by the name Madison), works.
Emotions run high when the two reunite. Madison is no longer the girl she once was in high school. In fact, she has tried very hard to keep that person in the past. Whereas Josh is doing all he can to keep his celebrity for as long as he can. The sparks are still there, but can Madison get past the pain Josh put her through? And is Josh more interested in getting two more minutes of fame than making right out of the wrong he did to Madison in the past?
Growing up with the MTV shows: Laguna Beach and the Hills, I immediately fell into this story. I felt like I walked onto an episode of one of the shows. The author did a great job making the characters feel relatable and the story believable. The perfect book to read while laying out on the beach!
