A great, healthy cane sugar alternative

In an effort to eat healthier, I have been looking for a cane sugar substitute and am so happy to have found this Monk Fruit Sweetener. I use it to sweeten my green tea and collagen drink in the morning, and I've also used it to bake with. This sweetener can be too sweet, so I use half the amount called for in recipes. When I make my 3-ingredient peanut butter cookies, I use 1/3 cup of Mong Fruit Sweeter instead of 2/3 cup sugar in the recipe. The cookies come out perfect and tasty.

Packaging is awful

The packaging makes this item almost unusable. It’s a completely different size than expected and it’s extremely difficult to reseal once opened. That said it looks and functions closely to real sugar unlike a brand like great value which is light and powdery this is denser and heavy like actual grains of sugar. I bet they could improve the packaging and sell it for less. The bag is trying to be fancy but it just doesn’t function at a practical level of daily use. I have to have fold it and use a clip to keep it closed so it doesn’t spill.

I get really upset with all the unethical, incompetent researchers out there. The studies that suggested that erythritol (and hence this product) is dangerous have been utterly debunked. These so-called 'scientists' are wanting attention, funding and to be published.
Please read the analyses and papers that show these findings to be utter garbage. The same supposed scientists have also just published a paper to launch a similar attack on xylitol, and it uses the same flawed arguments and has similar errors as the one attacking erythritol.

This Lakanto product is safe and has FDA approval and tastes really, really great. The texture is also superior.
We've been buying it for years and our family's cardio-vascular systems have been tested thoroughly and we are in perfect shape.

I need to lose a few pounds so I've started using this as my sweetener. Works great in my coffee and I sprinkle a little on my yogurt, sweeten my green iced tea with it (which helps me eat less during the day), sprinkle it on things like banana slices and freezing them for a snack etc. So good on oatmeal. Only downside is the price.

This Monkfruit/Erythritol mix has a Wonder flavor. I do not like the after taste of stevia and wanted a sugar substitute that tasted more like real sugar. Lakanto hit the nail on the head. This sugar sub tastes like sugar with a mix of richness to it. I rarely bake, so I cannot attest to how it performs when baking; however, tea, coffee, kool-aid and lemonade all taste great.

Con: 1) I have to either make drinks in smaller batches or not drink much of a pitcher, etc as it sends me to the bathroom. If I drink a cup of something, then I am fine. Much more and off to the toilet I go. Admittedly, it is nowhere near the awful and almost immediate tummy twisting, bowel-blast response that I get from the sugar sub Maltitol. So, just as long as I am mindful of the amount used, I am good with Lakanto. 2) The price is way up there when compared to regular sugar. I do not know if the process to make this product really does justify the price or if it is jacked up cause folks don't have many tasty alternatives. Nevertheless, I use Lakanto sweetener very conservatively nowadays.

Based on the taste, I highly recommend this product; however, the price is a bit outrageous!

I'm trying to cut back on sugar use, but I don't like saccharin or Nutra Sweet.
Then I learned about MondFruit sweetener and tried this.

I like it! It looks, feels, and measures out just like granulated sugar. And it tastes very good too!
Yes -- I can tell it's not actually sugar. But it has far less after-taste than I get with the other artificial sweeteners.

I don't use this for myself personally, but I bake low carb/sugar desserts for my mother. The cookies always turn out so good. BUUUUUT--If you have any kind of digestive issues, be careful. Erythritol can really cause a storm in your gut. I wish there was a baking sugar substitute that only uses stevia. I do well with that. But for everyone else, they cannot even tell that the desserts are low carb. I also just bought the regular white Lakanto Sugar. Again haven't tried it personally, but the brownies I made came out great. Erythritol can make your baked goods a little hard when refrigerated, but they soften up at room temperature or 20/30 seconds in the microwave. I will keep getting this for baking.

doctor recommended dropping sugar. the only time I ever use added sugar is in my one cup of morning coffee. tried many products and found this to be the least awful flavor. people's tastes are genetically different so your milage may vary. so find one you like and adjust the amount carefully; a little goes a long way with these products. the lakanto products are generally more $$$ than other brands.
