GREAT ACTING AND TERRIFIC CONCLUSION
Verified purchase
NO SPOILERS COMING, AS OTHER REVIEWERS SEEM SO UNPROFESSIONAL ENGAGING IN THIS SO OFTEN. THIS WAS A FILM WHICH HAD THE FIRST FORTY FIVE MINUTES CONCERNED WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND ATMOSPHERE. THE FINAL HALF HOUR WAS STUNNING AND SERIOUSLY FRIGHTENING. THUS, IF YOU ARE A PATIENT VIEWER, YOUR TIME WILL BE REWARDED. THE STORY CENTERS AROUND A FAMILY WHICH SPEND THEIR HOLIDAYS IN A WINTER RETREAT, SNOWMOBILES AND ALL. BUT, IN THE LAST THIRTY MINUTES, VERY UNPLEASANT OCCURRENCES BEGIN. THIS IS WHERE THE HORROR BECOMES RELENTLESS AND THE DENOUEMENT AND FINALE ARE FABULOUS. I COULD NOT EVEN VENTURE A GUESS AS TO WHAT WAS COMING. THEY SAY PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE. AS A HARD CORE HORROR FAN ALL MY LIFE, I KNOW GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT. A SOLID FILM, GREAT ACTING, AND A SUPERB SURPRISE ENDING. OK FOR VERY MATURE TEENS ALSO. ENJOY.

This movie isn't Good but I was Entertained. It's Unintentionally Goofy. Baffling Silly.

The Acting really isn't terrible. The Actor who played the Dad, had a Decent performance along with the Daughter Characters fiancé these two were the two Decent Actors. The Most Entertaining Performance was from Brandon Eaton he plays the Character "Tyler" his Performance is so Goofy and Cheesy but in a Good way it's not exactly Bad just Weird. The Actor who played The Old Cop was Bad but so Bad its Funny. The main Character is a Female the Actress ranged from Mediocre to worst in the film, she was frantic and banshee wailing when the best chance of survival was to be quite and strategic, a lot of this Entertained it really did make me laugh out loud more than a few times. The Sound Effects are Terribly Funny I mean what were they thinking how did that get past the editors? The Ski Masks are Silly Looking. It also takes a while for the Thriller/Horror to kick in if you can call it that, but even the leadings up were not too slow. I give it a 2 out of 5 stars on Amazon, a 4 out of 10 on IMDb & a 29% if we talking Tomatoes. It was less than Mediocre, but I got to say I enjoyed myself. Worth a watch if you are a Prime Customer and like to watch Low Budget Slasher Flicks. Prime Customers get to view it for FREE! Can't beat that. It's also a Short Flick you'll only waste an 1hr 10mins of your time. If you are bored throw it on.

"O...K..." Suspense

I was trying to find the budget for this movie, but can't seem to find it...

In any case... I don't think there was anything "special" about this movie, but let's see

Pros - Acting was 1/2 way decent / Camera work was good / Audio & Soundtrack were decent

Cons - Absolutely nothing new with the plot ( ie, EXTREMELY predictable and done 1000x over in other movies ) / "Maybe" there was 1 decent jump scare, but as a whole the movie wasn't very scary... I will say, because they did build up the characters a bit, there is "some" level of suspense / Special effects were virtually non-existent ( which is kind of why I wanted to see what the budget was )

I think basically my problem with this movie is that they attempted to make a "horror", but it's simply not scary, and doesn't have any blood / gore...

There were also some inconsistencies where a couple of quick line changes would have made more sense... ie, "Big blizzard moving in tonight"... and yet the next day the roads are totally clear and there is no fresh snow... They get bigger blizzards than that in Florida... whatever, it's a movie...

I'd write this up almost as a PG-13 Suspense? ( what was this thing rated anyway )... No swears / No nudity / Virtually No Blood / Even most acts of violence are pretty much "off camera"...

There are certainly worse movies here on Prime, but I don't think this was anything to write home about... 2.5 - 3 stars sounds about right...

Awesome first half.... Terrible second
Verified purchase
The character development was great. There was a lot of setup that I found very enjoyable. Great acting, cool suspense, etc. But once the second half of the film rolled around it was just senseless killing that made no sense and didn't go along with the rest of the film. The "twist" ending was too stupid that nobody gets it, not even the director. All in all this movie had the potential to be 4-5 stars but got ruined like most every other movie. Its almost like one person wrote the first half, and someone else wrote the rest.

The film wallows so long in the set-up that when the killings start they just kind of happen with no real intensity or suspense and it even has the gall to try and play the twist as self-aware as if they saw Scream and decided to throw something like in for no reason

Whoever wrote Lake Alice understands all the beats that thriller/slasher film should hit, but doesn't understand how to give any weight or intensity to those beats. Which is a shame because it's competently shot and acted, but the plotting is where it all falls apart. The first 48 minutes is an over long setting up of the rogue's gallery of red herrings where nothing much happens. Apparently the dad character has issues with the local police force, but I hope you don't find that interesting or want to know more because that's never explained. None of the red herrings make any sense as the killer, they're just slightly shifty, so there was no build up or excitement leading up to the reveal. The film wallows so long in the set-up that when the killings start they just kind of happen with no real intensity or suspense and it even has the gall to try and play the twist as self-aware as if they saw Scream and decided to throw something like in for no reason.

Horrible! The whole time I watched the girl and her mom freak out you are wishing they would be the next to be killed so you can enjoy the pretty scenery with out the crappy acting and their girl screeching! Plus crappy cinematography and even worse ending! Wasted 15 minutes with this presicrible POC!

Slow.....then just killing!

Didn't end correctly! All these people died for nothing. The new boyfriend shouldn't been the only one to die, if the motive was jealously.

Just not worth the 1.25 hours it took away from my life. I could have been watching something else but was determined it would get better. It didn't.
