This movie is the fifth part of both the Anaconda series and Lake Placid series of movies.
If you are interested in knowing how the battle went... just skip below to 'THE FIGHT' and 'THE WINNER'.
DO THESE TWO SLUG IT OUT IN REAL LIFE? The answer is yes.
-In real life these combatants do come across one another in the wild. An anaconda can kill a crocodile though it would most likely be a smaller sized one as it wouldn't be able to swallow a larger crocodile. A crocodile will pretty much eat anything it can get it's jaws on which includes snakes.
PLOT/SUMMARY: If you watched the previous movie, 'Lake Placid: The Last Chapter' (right...), then you saw Jim Bickerman (Robert Englund of 'Nightmare on Elm Street' fame) getting eaten by a crocodile. Turns out he just lost an eye, hand and leg. Well Jim and a mercenary named Beach capture a female crocodile for breeding purposes. They bring it to a scientific truck with lots of laboratory equipment along with a female Anaconda. For those of you who don't know about the Anaconda movies, there is a flower called the Blood Orchid that supposedly has life giving properties. The anaconda's that live near it eat the flower. For whatever the reason in this movie, the scientists are trying to crossbreed the Lake Placid crocodile along with the giant anaconda's. Needless to say the crocodile and anaconda escape along with others. The electric fence surrounding Black Lake (Lake Placid) is damaged and the the escapee's make their way to Clear Lake where a sorority is initiating it's members.
The ever popular Reba makes a return and is now Sheriff! Reba along with another U.S Wildlife Service officer named Will go to the rescue. Eventually snakes, crocs, sheriff, officers, Bickerman's and sorority all come together. Not much of a plot here. Same as previous few Lake Placid movies.
PRODUCTION/THOUGHTS: This movie was released straight to the SyFy channel in 2015.
-I think the fight between the anaconda's and the crocodiles is not fair and one-sided. The anaconda's are the laboratory created giant's while the crocodiles were just run of the mill regular size. The crocodiles in this movie don't approach the size of the giant in the first Lake Placid movie whereas the anaconda's are the giants from their movies.
-I don't have a lot of 'thoughts' on this movie mainly because the plot is similar to the last movie. I won't bother with critiquing the plot holes of which their are numerous. Basically, I was just hoping for a good fight and I didn't get it.
*****LOTS OF SPOILERS BELOW*****
THE FIGHT: This is very disappointing. I guess you can say there is a battle or actually multiple battles but it really isn't much of a fight in any of them. If you combined the entire running time of all the battles it would probably time out at under a minute. The battles were quick and unexciting.
The Battle Part I - One of the two Anaconda's attacks a crocodile while it is itself attacking humans. The Anaconda quickly wraps itself around the Anaconda and squeezes it till it explodes into a mess of goo. This battle goes to Anaconda.
The Battle Part II - While a crocodile is eating a person an Anaconda comes along and starts biting and strangling the crocodile. The humans fire at them and we don't see anything further. Anaconda was winning when the shooting started but doesn't complete the deal. So we go to the scorecards and Anaconda gets a unanimous decision.
The Battle Part III - Two crocodiles have a chomped down on each end of an Anaconda. The second Anaconda comes along and whips one of the crocs and obliterates it.
The Battle Part IV - The second crocodile bites the first Anaconda and flings it into a helicopter thereby killing it along with everyone in the helicopter. Victory to Lake Placid (crocodile).
The Battle Part V - The first Anaconda attacks and bites and strangles to death the second crocodile. Victory again to Anaconda.
THE WINNER: There is indeed a pretty decisive winner and that is Anaconda. Anaconda wins 4 of the 5 battles.
RECOMMENDATIONS/CONCLUSIONS: Ultimately, I did not like this movie. I think of it as a missed opportunity. This movie ties together two successful franchises with one pretty lousy movie.
I'm giving this movie 2 stars.
In my opinion, this movie is close to the bottom for both franchises. I didn't much like 'Lake Placid: Final Chapter' nor did I like the third and fourth Anaconda movies. This movie falls into that category.
As of this date in December, 2018 there was one more sequel to these movies and that was for 'Lake Placid'. It is called 'Lake Placid: Legacy'. That movie has a very different tone to it and is just barely related to the series.
Recommended obviously for fans of the Lake Placid Series and Anaconda series of movies. You have to buy this or your collection will be incomplete!
Recommended for fans of giant lizard, snake, shark etc. movies.
This time scientists are injecting the rare crocodile blood into anacondas so they can harvest the snakes eggs. Something to do with gene splicing and youth serum gobbledygook. It don’t really matter since both the snakes and the crocodiles escape. And that is the whole meaning of the sequel.
Now we go to the neighboring “Clear Lake” where our escapees head to looking for food. And boy do they find it. A sorority is on the beach sunning and swimming. A couple frat boys are there too. I can hear the dinner bell now. And don’t forget the evil scientist and her minions.
Our helicopter take down was due to a crocodile throwing a giant snake up in the air and hitting the chopper.
As always lots of fun mayhem, body parts, blood and creatures exploding. Add this to your guilty pleasure pile of DVDs.
Parents: again we have nudity and a sexual situation. There is some in all the Lake Placid movies except the first one.
Needless to say, I loved it. I am looking forward to the next installment (because why give up now? They surely can't get any worse). Now they just have to figure out how to introduce sharks into the next movie. Or man eating giraffes (no one has ever made a movie about killer giraffes. Be daring, start a new trend). Just saying........
